Jazzy09 Bushnell SkyTour 114x900: ... If I were to describe this piece of equipment, I would say that it looks like a tube of Pringles with a microscopic lens attached. It is very shiny and looks quite striking to the average human eye. ~ Telescope Specifications ~ The telescope comes with a really useful handset which talks you through a tour of the night sky which I found really useful when starting out as I am a real amateur. It also comes w...

lunarc Celestron Advanced C6-N
... was lucky enough to be given a Celestron C6-N as a gift by a family member who no longer required it and I was very lucky indeed. It was quick to assemble - even for me, as a complete novice - using the clearly-written instructions in the manual. The telescope has a convenient viewfinder which allows easy location of stars and planets. It is a Newtonian type telescope with a 6" diameter and 750mm focal length (f/5) and includes a 20mm eyepiece. It s capable of solar, lunar and planetary observation as well as looking into deep space at galaxies and nebulae. It s a great telescope for astrophotography, if you take advantage of the optional extras (Celestron s opt...

markos9 Meade ETX-125PE
... Dad has owned this scope for almost 18 months now and he and I have logged many hours staring through the eyepiece at the night sky. Our experiences of this telescope have been a mixture of excellent and not so excellent. I thought I d share my thoughts with anyone considering purchasing this telescope. The Meade ETX 125-PE is a small(ish) Maksutov Cassegrain astronomical telescope with Autostar computer control (also known as a Goto scope). The Maksutov Cassegrain optics makes the telescope shorter than the more commonplace refractors or reflectors, and the computer control, in theory (I ll expand on this later), allows the user to send the telescope to any objec...

luigi0778 Celestron NexStar SE 4
... Nexstar 4SE, is an excellent entry level telescope. Competitively priced, and well equipped. It is of the Maksutov design. Which for the novice, just basically means it s a combination of lenses and mirrors, which will give you the same power/length ratio as that of a much longer focal length unit, but in a short stubby tube instead. Where this telescope really comes into its own (for the beginner anyway), is with the Nexstar computer controlled handset, which allows the unit to be aligned with the heavens very simply. After the initial alignment sequence, the unit can then be commanded to autonomously navigate you around, to show you objects of interest. (sadly tho...
