LG 42LD450
by webownage
I got this TV for the living room about 3 years ago when we moved house, we used in there for about 9/10 months, then I realised that we could of gotten a bigger one, so we bought a 50" Samsung, and put this LG one in the games room up the stairs for the kids. I was happy using it in the living room and have had a pleasant ... experience, now the kids can use it in their games room up the stairs, for playing games, watching movies when they have friends over.
Appearance-
The TV does look smaller than our previous 42" it just takes some time to adjust because the speakers are built in, and not attached on to the side so therefore looks smaller, you quickly adjust and it's really just the same. The TV its self sits upon a base which turns left and right, excellent if the sun hits the TV and you're struggling to see it. The frame, and the base is made from high quality, shiny material. There is the LG logo placed in the bottom middle of the frame surrounding the screen.
Screen -
The screen is an excellent bright 42 inches, excellent for playing games, watching movies, connecting you laptop to show pictures, this screen is excellent in all respects, very bright and clear, great for everything, and everyone will enjoy.
Sound Quality -
Ultimately it is down to the quality which is sent from the broadcaster, but this TV never fails in the sound aspects of things, very clear no matter how low or how high you have it turned up, you can always make it out without a problem.
Durability -
This TV was used in the living room for under a year a preformed very well, there is no scratches, or marks on the screen or frame, you get a microfiber cloth included for cleaning the dust off of the shiny surface. Now that it is in the kids' games room, it is getting much more use, and is still providing the high quality picture and sound.
Connectivity -
With the LG 42LD450 you get:
2 HDMI sockets
1 SCART socket
1 PC (VGA) socket
AV socket at side
Headphone socket
Optical connection
Composite.
Also, when purchasing we noticed it said that it had a Freeview digital tuner built in, I have not used this, because we had sky, then moved to virgin, which is in all the rooms where the TV has been getting used so it I haven't had the need to use it thus not commenting about it.
Price -
This product is currently on sale in Argos for £419.98, grab yourself a bargain because when I bought this it was a little over £600, you are defiantly getting value for money with this TV with all the features and quality you get, it is well worth your while!
Overall Opinion -
In my overall opinion I feel that the TV performs well in all aspects to what it is up to and hasn't failed me or the kids' yet, and I have no doubt that anything could go wrong with a TV of this quality and with a brand like LG which is very respected and trusted brand.
Recommend -
Would recommend this TV to everyone because of the high quality display, and clear sound which is excellent for everyone, a TV for your kids to use in the spare room, one for the living room etc, this TV has endless uses and comes at a very reasonable price.
Thanks for reading! I hope this has been of interest to you and has helped assist you in your decision. Read the complete review |

LG 42LD490
by martyedwards
This is a very very good TV for the price that we got it at, we got it for around 400 in the winter sale. i have no idea how the winter period effects the price of a television but hey there you go, maybe cause its cold and you want to sit in the house and watch TV more. im sure there is reason behind the madness.
The tv is a ... very sleek and clean cut design, there's no need to faff around when it comes down to looking into other televisions, you dont need to look further. this has a easy to set up system, all the ports that the world can need in the back and you can plug all your devices into it easily which then are picked up and work straight away! what more can you demand ? nothing that's right.
Price and Availability
------------------------------
We got ours for around the 400 region, although after looking at the price comparison section they appear to be going for alot higher, its understandable as it is an excellent quality product for the price that you are going to be paying. For the 550ish price that you will pay, you get the remote, all the according wires and luckily if your fluky enough you will be able to get a hd DVD player with it aswell, this makes the amount that you need to pay so much better.
You should be able to find this TV in most of your stores such as curry's and PC world, however if your lazy and you cant be bothered to leave the house, you would be able to find this on the internet, you would be better off doing this however as you are able to find better deals online aswell and also you are able to get vouchers and coupons online that can save you on the delivery costs and all the small extras that shops try to charge you so you are then able to get "alot more for your dollar" as some would say.
Appearance and Design.
-----------------------------------
This TV is amazing when it comes down to the look of it, its slim which means its very easy to find a place for it to stand, the bottom also has a twist feature so if your the only one watching the TV in the room but the other seats for some reason have been took up then dont worry as you can then twist the screen so that it can face directly at you and your mind can be blown from the HD effects that happen whilst watching your movie. The section under the TV is the small blue light which lets you know that it switches on and off and where you need to point the remote at it so you can switch channels.
With all the TV being black it can easily fit into any room and blend in and still keep the class and style that the TV carries with it, we would expect nothing less from LG. The remote is a very easy use device which does have alot of buttons on however these all are explained in the small manual that you get when purchasing this god like item. The buttons are big so that if you have fat fingers like me you dont have to worry about pressing more then one at a time, Unlike old televisions where your family would normally have to collect certain remotes for each digibox that all had loads of wires linking them all together, this is different you can now control everything with the one remote as the digibox / freeview box is linked into it.
Yes you still need to keep the sky remote aswell to work that but still it keeps the hassle of finding new batteries for all the different remotes! excellent design if you ask me.
All the ports on the back of the television are clearly labeled so even if your of the older generation you wont have any problems trying to figure which one goes into each section, as soon as you plug them in they work without having to program them or anything like that. really really simple stuff.
The screen quality is amazing, due to its 1080p (full hd) design which can produce 1920 x 1080p picture resolution meaning that its the most crisp and vibrant colours you will see on a TV, this is a massive improvement on the standard picture quality that you would get from a big old TV box that you would find back in the old days. This allows you to be able to feel like your really in the game of blue ray DVD that your watching, once you watched it there's no way you can go back to the old television as it just ruins films and picture quality
Overall
----------
Very good television with alot of options to add the extra DVD players and all that sort of thing into the back, there's no way you will get bored of this TV and in the life span that you have it, it will do very well with keeping you up to date. However if you are the type of person who always want to have the latest gadget and gismo then i would recommend that you go for the 3D TV's as there new on the scene and will start to dominate once they are perfected.
