Philips 42PF9831 ... Philips 42PF9831 is one of the best Large screen LCD televisions available at this moment in time. Apart from being able to show off the superb full Ambilight Technology, it also benefits from the excellent philips technology Pixel Plus 3. This HD Ready TV is capable of displaying upto 720p resolution, and has a contrast ratio of 4500:1. The contrast ratio on any TV is the difference between light and dark colours. So for example any picture that is supposed to be black will be black, on tvs with a low contrast ratio will look more of a grey colour. Philips 42PF9731D ... bought this TV from Bennetts Electrical in late january, looks very good, very impressive. The setup is very simpe. Takes a bit of getting used to the size(the speakers put an extra 5 or 6 inches on the total width or the unit) the features are good and the Pixel Plus facility does make a difference!! I did have a problem of 2 pixels went after 1 week so I got a replacement delivered within 2 weeks. I would recommend getting an extra warranty. I got a 5 year extended warranty for £300.00 and paid £899.00 for the TV. And got a black glass stand half price as well. Its always worth shopping arround for the best deals!!... Toshiba 42WH46P ... the front that you would think it was slim all round! When choosing my TV I wanted one which was easy to use and understand with basic functions, I didnt want to be bothered with all the technical jargon and a myriad of functions that I probably would nt use and would only leave me confused, so thats why I chose this one.
