Advantages: Good price, and very nice looking set

Disadvantages: poor reliability and support

This TV was my first foray into flat screen TVs and was purchased at the time for the HD compatibility with my (then new) Xbox 360.

I paid £500 for this TV 3 years ago, which at the time was quite a good price for a 32 inch screen, this was before 720p wasn't good enough for people, but 720p is what I wanted as I feel it's best for playing consoles on.

First impressions when I opened the box was how very nice it looked, at the time most electrical items that belonged in the living room were silver, so the sleek black frame of this set was most welcome.

The speakers can be mounted below the TV screen, or one on each side, which again adds to the differing look this set had to others in similar range.

Picture :

Using a scart connection for standard definition Sky digital the picture was a lot better than expected, as I had heard it would look poor, but there was a definite improvement over my old CRT 32inch.

Using my xbox 360 via composite connection ( in 720p) well the picture was perfect, really, for the first time I could see the potential for HD TV when I realised the difference it made.

Sound

The built in speakers on the TV do a very good job for a mid sized room, they go way past being loud enough for almost every situation and manage to retain clarity until the absolute extremes. Also it does a nice job of a fake surround sound using the 2 speakers.

So all in all I was happy with the TV, however this is where things took a turn for the worse.

After about 14 months the screen had picked up a defect where it looked as if the screen had been brushed (like a brushed aluminium) this got worse and worse. I contacted hyundai who advised me that I needed to contact repairetech, who dealt with warranty claims for the company, and as the TV was covered for two years, I was in luck.

Or so you would think anyway I tried for 18months to arrange collection of the TV with the company and it simply never happened. Phone calls would go unrecorded so when I called up to chase up why the TV hadn't been collected I had to start the story again. It's now 3 years since I have owned the TV and the problem has never been fixed.

When buying a product it's nice to know what kind of support you would get if something went wrong, well in my past experience (and in a few others I have read online) avoid hyundai as much as possible.

Summary: This TV wasn't worth the great price I got it for as it's now ready for the bin
