LG 32LH2000 - Simply a Beautiful piece of technology.
I haven't had much chance lately to get on here but felt you really needed to know about this new addition to the family!!! My bargain buy last month was this sleek little number from Comet.
I had come into a bit of a windfall ( well compensation for my accident - 3yrs ago!!) and decided to treat myself and family to a new TV. Our old faithful was really on the way out and I knew it wouldn't cope with the new switch over heading to our area soon.
After shopping around I was attracted to the LG 32LH200 for 2 reasons really - its classy appearance and more importantly the fact it had just been reduced down to £379. I did also manage to negotiate a really great price on a smaller TV for my bedroom, if I paid cash for the two sets.
The final price being £450 for both TV's and a wall bracket, which was over £25, on its own.
~~~ So are LG a reputable company? ~~~
I had never purchased an LG product before - but was assured by the sales assistant, my partner and my 14yr (going on 30) gadget boy/son, that they were an excellent manufacturer.
After looking into their company I have found they were founded in 1958 and now have head quarters in Korea as well as bases in 17 European countries, 7 companies in Central & South America, 7 companies in the Middle East & Africa, companies in Canada, Mexico, USA, Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia... the list just goes on. They have joint ventures with Hitachi over Data-storage / DVD ROM Drives. So they certainly seemed to have their finger on the pulse where modern technology is concerned.
~~~ Appearance ~~~
The wide screen is bordered by a shiny, black frame that is surprisingly light. The simply LG logo is positioned on the bottom of the frame in silver. A thin silver strip elegantly runs the across breadth, below the logo, giving a neat looking finish.
The whole frame of the monitor is supported by rounded stand (approx 3inches). This sits into a large foot which is an almost semi-circle shape of the same sleek black finish as the frame. Fitting this stand to the monitor and base was very easy to do, with clear assembly instructions included with the manual.
The monitor can also be wall mounted, although the bracket is extra.
~~~ Features ~~~
Dimensions - depth in cm 7.99. Height in cm 52.8. Width 80.4cm. screen size 81cm (32in)
LCD Monitor, HD ready and built in freeview.
The screen format can be changed from the default setting of 16.9 to several other settings which are ; zoom 1, zoom 2- which is self explanatory and I must add that although great for the short-sighted I really can't see when I would use this feature as it often cuts the top part of the picture off- please let me know if you can think of a reason, a 43 setting makes the picture tall and thin and then the 14.9 setting makes the picture large. If use the 16.9 ratio as is gives a great picture with the proportions we are use to.
The Energy Saving feature can be accessed easily via the green button on the remote control. It also activates the intelligent sensor that will lower of higher the back light to the room's light.
The EPG - electronic program guide has a 7-day feature where up coming events can be selected and a recording / reminder set.
The built in loudspeakers are ok but we have a surround sound system for that extra quality. There is a headphone output socket on the left side of the screen, which can also be used for other external sound devices.
The VGA input allows computers to be connected directly into the TV.
There are A/V sockets, HDMI connections which allow for games consoles and other media devices to be connected.
The picture is of a really good high quality. The sharpness and colour is bright and clear and makes viewing a real joy and pleasurable experience. Even when playing the Wii games and DVD's through a laptop the quality is not compromised.
~~~ The Remote~~~
The black remote is slim, fairly light in weight and really easy to use. It has all the features needed for accessing the freeview channels, changing the input connections to games controls etc.
I must admit this is the easiest of remotes I have had simply because it is just one control that does all. It has certainly saved on the frustration of finding the tv remote settling onto the sofa then having to get back up to find the missing freeview control!!
~~~ Overall impressions~~~
We are all totally in love with the new TV. The ease in assembling, use of user's manual (which I haven't talked about in this review because I didn't want to dribble on about an instruction book, I wanted to talk about the TV itself) and overall good quality features of the system have certainly made this one of my best buys this year.
Would I recommend this product - ABSOLUTELY - OVER & OVER.
Well done LG - a fantastic piece of technology.
Thanks for reading - also on ciao x hev
