Advantages: 1080p, USB

Disadvantages: sound could be improved

This LG 37" TV was in sale recently for £399 at Dixons/ PC World/ Currys which is a good price for a branded TV with the features of this LG. It has a 80,000:1 contrast ratio which is very high and provides good contrast for an LCD TV which usually struggles with blacks.

Although this model is 50Hz compared to higher spec models which usually have 100Hz the motion blur is still hardly noticeable. It is Full HD 1080p with 1920 x 1080p pixel resolution meaning when a HD source (such as sky HD) is connected the picture quality is much improved and excellent.

Freeview is built in as is energy saving technology. The TV has LG's invisible speaker technology and 10w + 10w which is comparable to most TVs but is one of the areas the TV could have been improved.

There are enough ports to keep most satified with 3 HDMI ports, 2 scarts, 1 PC input, 1 component input and a handy USB port. The USB port can be used to playback mp3/jpeg and even divx and high def mkv files with the correct software running on the TV which is very useful!

Overall an excellent TV for the price.
