Big TV Can It Give A Big Thumbs Up?
Member Name: xxBeccaxx
Advantages: Big screen, good picture and sound quality
Disadvantages: screen burn and problems with the remote and the TV response time
Around a year ago my boyfriend was looking for a new TV bigger than the 32" we already owned. After many hours of searching and umming and ahhing over which was best, good for certain activities etc he decided on this particular model.
As I understand it had pretty good reviews all round and he went to the shop to purchase it and paid around £799. This included delivery as they don't allow plasmas to be transprted due to the tubes inside being upset and causing picture problems.
On first arrival of it I was suprised by just how big it was although the size of the room obviously plays a big part. The picture quality was really really good especially for full HD viewing I'm still suprised by how crisp and clear the picture is.
The sound quality is reasonable as well, I haven't found anything wrong with it anyway.
The TV itself comes on a black support stand but I do find it seems a little unsteady when swivelling the screen for perfect viewing however it hasn't had any unfortunate accidents as yet.
Just recently when the warranty was almost expired we had some problems with the remote and connecting with the TV it was stalling and just not responding. After phoning LG they came out after a few days and upgraded the firmware and it's been fine ever since.
The not so great thing about the TV is that even after just a few minutes of having the Virgin Media box paused the screen it gets image retention and so far it has got a little screen burn meaning you do have to be careful when leaving an image on there for even just a few minutes.
Despite the problems the TV is pretty good and if you're looking for a big screen then this is definately a good choice. Most problems LG are happy to sort except they won't do anything about screen burn but it hasn't affected the picture quality so far.
Summary: A good big screen TV that will change you're normal viewing experience,
