Advantages: Was cheap when bough,

Disadvantages: Picture slighly pixilated on a scart device

I purchased the Orion 32 from the Currys store about 2 years ago for about £350, which was a cheap price for a 32 inch flat screen tv with HD, although the more well known brands are now coming down in price.

On the TV, the specification is not that high when compared to 32" TVs on sale today. But When I purchased it at the time, it was extremely good value for money with the specification. The TV itself, although HD in nature, is not full HD, as the specification is 720P, which is higher than standard TV but not full HD. Although I cannnot comment on the HD quality of the TV as I do not have any HD devices that use HD.

The connections on the TV are 2 HDMI ports for HD devices, 2 scart ports for devices such as DVD players or a sky box, component another way to connect HD devices, a sub-d 15 pin connector so a PC can be connected and a headphone socket.

When I got the TV home, it was simple to set up like all tvs, through the use of the automatic TV tuner for both analogue and digital TV signals. The picture quality of the freeview signal was clear and precise and therefore easy to view. There is a problem with the picture quality of the TV when it is viewed through a device that is connected through using the scart port. Such as example is when viewing programmes through a sky digital box, as the picture quality is not as clear as through freeview; as when football is viewed on sky sports, the fast paced camera movement can become blurred.

In Freeview mode there features that are not always found on TVs that have built in Freeview, such as the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), and automatic programme timer, that will turn over the programme or turn the TV on if the setting to do this is turned on.

A feature that was welcomed on the TV, that can now be found on all new falt screen TVs is the PC connection, which I use alot. This allowed a person to use the TV like a computer monitor, the way I use this is to view movies that have been downloaded through online stores like itunes. For this purpose the PC port is of excellent use, although I would not use the TV as an everyday monitor as viewing TV is difficult unless put into a larger font.

A problem that I have found with the sound, is that it cannot be fully turned off when watching a program, which is a problem as the TV is placed in the bedroom currently, and with some programs that are watched through Freeview it can still seem loud. But this is only a slight problem.

I believe that this was a good purchase for the price that I paid for it two years ago, although I believe that the TV could be purchased alot cheaper than I paid for it.

Summary: Good value for money
