As a huge fan of Panasonic's range of televisions I wanted to get a set to use with my XBOX 360 for high definition gaming. I wanted to use an LCD set because it's generally a better fit for video games but up until this set was released the largest LCD they made was a 32" model with only plasmas above that. As good as they are the power consumption is a little bit of an issue so I was delighted to see this model get a release.
Having had the set for around eighteen months now i'm as pleased with it as I was at first purchase. The spec may be a couple of features light by modern standards, being only 50hz and having only two HDMI inputs which has turned out to be a little more of a problem than I first thought with a V+ box, a 360 and a Blu-ray player competing for space.
One area where it really trumps much of the newer competition is in sound quality. While newer tvs from the likes of Samsung have located their speakers on the underside of the set which doesn't give a very good projection of sound, this set has very good quality speakers which are on either side of the set and give a good stereo separation and a better pseudo surround sound effect than you might expect.
Like all modern Panasonic tvs, the 37LZD70 has an SD card slot which allows you to view photographs straight from your memory card in your digital camera, which may be a gimmick to some but has been one of the tv's best features for me as the bigger display really brings your photos to life, particularly if you've got a high mega pixel camera.
