Last Christmas we badly needed to upgrade our main family tv in the sitting room and eventually decided on this model. I wanted another tv that would last us many years and having had a Philips brand tv previously I knew the quality wouldn't disappoint.
I bought it online from a company called Komplett and paid just under 1000 euro at the time. I checked this against the prices in high street shops such as soundstore and currys and it was on average 200 euro cheaper online so be sure to shop around for best deal.
The screen is 42inch and it is full HD which is perfect for watching Blu Ray DVDs. I have a HD camcorder which I could connect directly to the tv through the HDMI slot which was great. There are also three other USB ports so you can put pictures, videos on a memory stick and plug it into the tv. I have done this a lot and it has never rejected anything I have played.
Coming from a standard tv I was amazed by the amazing sound and picture. The sound seems to fill the whole room and it's fantastic watching horror films on this!
The tv itself is good looking too. It has a glossy rim around the screen and base and although it attracts dust and can be a pain to keep clean it really does make it look top of the range. I use LCD wipes to clean the screen because I would be afraid using a damp cloth could affect the screen. It can also be mounted on the wall but you have to buy this equipment separately.
The menu is great and very user friendly. If you need to set up a DVD player for example you can just click add device and choose DVD and it can show you which slot is being used. I found this great because it helped the confusion of knowing which wires go where when you want to connect a few devices. Then when all is set up you just choose DVD, Blu Ray, camcorder etc and it will go straight into it.
All in all I'm really pleased with this tv and you will be too! Everyone always comments on how good it is! If you have small kids around be careful as it can be very wobbly on a stand. It won't fall down itself but if kids started banging on the screen I could see it falling. That's the only negative thing I would have to say!
