We bought this tv not too long ago, mainly because my other half wanted a big tv that he could plug his xbox, pc and ps3 in to. We bought it from currys for £499 earlier on this year. We bought this tv because samsung is a brand we trust and when we asked about it seemed to be the best rated brand, but I've got to say we have noticed a little problem with ours. At the bottom right hand side of the tv we have noticed that one of the pixels always seems to be red, and in the top right hand corner, one of the pixels is white. It seems too much effort to claim a new one even though its on warranty as its such a little thing. We also got a little blue cleaning cloth with this tv, as apparently, if you use a normal scruffy yellow duster on this tv, it will leave bits of yellow on it.... according to the other half anyway!
This is my first ever 40" LCD TV and investing a bit of money for it is quite a gamble. However, this TV has an amazing picture and bright colors! It also has a lot of input and output options and you can hook up almost anything. Playstation, stereo, VCR, Blueray player, a flash drive and it still has a lot of connections available. This is also the smallest flat panel I could find with full 1080 HD capability, at least from where I bought it.
The truth of the matter is, I personally bought this TV because of the network port so I could hook it up on my PC, use it as a monitor (switching back and forth from my PC monitor to this) to watch my archived movies and shows. I found out that the software doesn't really decode all codecs and it takes time to learn it. So what I did is switched the output from PC using HDMI and the colors was just heavenly! I could never watch any of my movies from my PC monitor after this. Also, I wouldn't really recommend this TV to be used as a gaming monitor. 40" is just too big for me.
I would also like to add that I had trouble managing the channels because of its interface. This TV also requires an HD cable box. If you intend to use this without using it's HD functionality, you'll notice that the feed would be grainy.
Overall a good TV and its definitely worth the price.
