Move over Samsung 40 … Move over Samsung 32 … Move over Samsung 26 …. Its time to let people know there’s a Samsung 19inch in town. I may be a diminutive TV but I sure packs a punch. That’s right folks, the new guy in town sure can and I can back those words up. These days most of us when purchasing a new TV we tend to buy huge LCD or plasmas and why not - home entertainment has never looked in better shape. However, if you want to feel that cinema feeling then you have no option but to buy big and spend big. So, for now, disregard the whole cinema auditorium feeling and just think TV - quality - cheap - practical - value for money - All excellent attributes that make you want to know more. Correct?

The small Samsung LCD 19inch TV offers this and much more - Despite being overshadowed by its mammoth family of the Samsung brothers, this little infant is worth a big mention. Not only can it easily hold its own when compared too many of the 19 inch rival TV models out there but it can also out perform many PC monitors - if wishing to use for that reason. However, as a Samsung 19inch TV, it’s the perfect make/model and size for any home and one that will accommodate most rooms with that added touch of style. The Samsung LE 19 R71B is bursting to show off - so without further ado let’s see the power behind this punch.

•[Style - LOOKS - Features]•

The Samsung 19 LCD TV can stand high & proud beside its taller Samsung brothers when showing off its plumage. It may be small in stature but it can sure compete on looks and style. The slimline design flat screen is subtle and classy looking, the black gloss TV frame & stand looks elegant on any cabinet or mounted on any wall. Therefore, this TV has nothing to be ashamed off when showing off its looks - Samsung have cut no corners here. The diminutive 19 inch TV has been crafted to look as stunning as its taller Samsung brothers - identical stunning. So when purchasing a smaller TV, don’t think a small screen dimension means a rubbish look/style. This is not the case with this make and model. The medium weight 19 inch Samsung sits perfectly on a secure black oval stand - glossed black to match the TV frame. It acts as good support and stability when placing on a cabinet or shelf - a safety measure you can have faith in. The TV is well secured to the flat stand and even though it can be removed it won’t fall out whilst in use. Despite the small size the TV also offers the swivel option - an option that allows you to alter the angle of the TV screen to suit your viewing needs -. Its easy to alter the angle, the stand is responsive and simple to adjust when need be. - This feature contributes to a more comfortable viewing.

Sporting an array of features the Samsung 19 inch is equipped with all the modern add-ons that one needs or may use in todays technical world. I could easily roll out all the specifications but most are jargon words. One thing I will mention though, the diminutive Samsung is HD ready & you will have no problems watching digital Sky TV, connecting the X-Box or any other games console for that matter as well as DVD players - all connected via the scart lead. When not using the remote control, all the control panel functions are well hidden but nicely placed on the side of the TV frame and all easily accessible when need to use. The speakers on the hand are truly hidden away, kept underneath the slimeline 19 inch LCD screen. - They can be heard but not seen.

•[Whats the PICTURE quality like?]•

Mighty Mouse does it again - The diminutive 19 inch Samsung TV (I call it diminutive because it really is small compared to the larger Samsung range) far outstrips and outperforms its rivals when comparing others TV`s of the same dimensional size and can easily go that one step further and match some of these so called bigger screens when it comes to picture quality. The solidity, sharpness and accuracy of the image make viewing of the highest excellence no matter how small the screen is. The face flat technology brings a new level of screen performance - the screens geometry brings out the clarity & quality of the picture and this can be appreciated right to the edge of the 19 inch screen. The picture delivers an impressive level of rich detail - the colours displayed on the screen are vibrant yet naturally looking. You can toggle with the features available to alter the picture quality that suits you. But the overall picture quality that the Samsung LE 19 R71B will display when viewing is one of high image precision. I am struggling to find any flaws with the picture quality hence how impressed I am with my diminutive 19 inch TV image - absolutely excels in this area.

•[Whats the SOUND quality like?]•

Surprisingly, very good - I say surprisingly because I own the Samsung 26 and 40 inch LCD TV and the sound quality output is one area they have fallen short with these two models. However, the Samsung 19 inch LCD fair much better with the overall sound quality. There is no distortion or rattling when raising the volume - something you would expect from a smaller framed TV but instead its capable of handling a high level of volume expressing it over in a clear and crystal sound - all this without having to use surround sound speakers. Impressive! - Taking into account the size of the TV (19 inch) the audio quality will most definitely come across sharper and clearer when viewing - the reason for this is because if you opt to buy one of these, you are more likely to be placing it in a small area/room of the house. The bedroom, the kitchen, the study, the office, the conservatory or even the loft. Its a perfect size TV that will accommodate most rooms in the home and its also ideal for people living in flats with small rooms - a stylish TV that will not only provide quality picture but quality sound as well. This TV is not suitable to accommodate very large rooms and more so big living rooms - its way too small for that. The Samsung also provides a headphone output which can be found on the rear of the TV set - while headphone is connected the sound from the built in speakers will be disabled. So to sum it all up, the diminutive Samsung 19 inch TV has yet again surpassed all the sound quality performance criteria. Also provides great audio sounds when playing DVD movies or when playing console games.


•[Ease of USE and INSTALLATION?]•

When purchasing the Samsung LE 19 R71B you receive the following:

• Stand
• Cleaning cloth
• Free wall mount

Anyone with basic DIY skills can easily follow the installation instructions - All is self explanatory and all leads/plug-ins are colour coded. The TV itself is multi-purpose therefore the Plug & Play feature when TV is initially powered on will automatically search for all required settings in order for you to operate you TV with ease. All other additional hardware devices such as games consoles, Sky Tv, DVD unit, PC are all connected at the rear of the set via a single scart lead. The Samsung LE 19 R71B only has one scart socket hence you are restricted on the amount of scart unit devices you can use. - keep this in mind if you decide to purchase this make and model. I connect my DVD player to the Samsung with the scart lead provided and then stand the TV on top of my DVD player - both units then sit on a stable shelf. It looks good and the DVD unit can also take the weight of the TV. The Samsungs auto scan feature is simple and effective - it sets the correct resolution and size, this little beauty does all the thinking and setting for you. So yet again the diminutive Samsung 19 inch TV has passed with flying colours for the ease of use and installation.

Once up and running your next port of call would be to familiarise yourself with the remote control - this is one feature that stands out when comparing this device to its taller Samsung brothers. The bigger models offer a long and slim remote control but the Samsung 19 inch is designed completely different. The obvious feature is its size - easily half the size in stature and less buttons but it’s still a hardy and well built remote. - One that is durable, slim line, practical , responsive , easy on the eye , easy access to features and all simple to navigate with when searching the different functions available. All the commands can be operated from the comfort of your seat once the Plug & Play feature has tuned all the channel settings. The remote is provided with x2 AAA batteries but once used up these are the ones you will need. Having said that, battery consumption is slow and x2 Duracell can last you eight to nine months when in use constantly. The batteries that were provided when purchasing my Samsung LE 19 R71B is still in the remote control - It’s been five months now and the remote is still as responsive and in working order as day one.

•[Is the diminutive Samsung VALUE for money?]•

Most definitely - This little Samsung TV gets the thumbs up from me. The funny thing is, it was pure accident how I came about buying the Samsung 19 inch. Was after a 26inch to put in the small study/bedroom but none were available. So somehow talking to the sales assistant he persuaded me to go for the 19 inch LCD. He said it looks pretty good and I will be quite surprised at the outcome, I initially had my doubts on the screen size but still went ahead and bought it. I paid with a Visa Card the total amount of £238 (Plus 1 year Warranty) - This make/model: Samsung LE 19 R71B can now be found for around £200 in certain electronic websites or outlets. Once the TV is all set and up and running the screen size soon becomes irrelevant and more so in small to medium sized rooms. Firstly, your eyes quickly adjust to the classy black gloss TV frame and secondly the picture/sound quality output compensates for its screen dimension. - making viewing just as enjoyable & spectacular as if you would be viewing a movie on say a 26 inch TV and at half the price.

The diminutive 19 inch screen can sure pack a punch and leave the taller and bigger Samsung range standing and I mean that literally - The screen size makes them practical and mobile TV`s within your home unlike the larger screens that tend to remain fixed in the same room and if moved will pose many difficulties. This little Samsung infant is more than willing to be moved from room to room - easy to please and will accommodate most dwellings as well as fit in the most awkward spaces without taking up much room. The ability of this feature is so handy , to able to move a TV from room to room within the house , all hassle free and all the while receive quality picture/sound output says a lot about this make & model - I have moved the 19 inch TV to 3 separate rooms for different reasons - guests staying in spare room , faulty aerial so picture was playing up from main TV , used as a PC monitor , it was even moved out into the garden under the shade when we had that hot weekend just gone. It truly is a flexible and stylish looking TV and one that I have no regrets in buying. Its more than value for money and having paid far less for it when compared to my bigger screens this diminutive Samsung has been a much better investment and one that I get more use out off. This TV really does meet all my viewing needs and much more: Its hassle free, its value for money, it provides quality picture/sound and more importantly Samsung have not any cut any corners in the looks and performance of this model regardless of the small screen dimension.

•[Need to KNOW basis]•

• When purchasing your Samsung LE 19 R71B you will be given the main essentials as well as a FREE secure metal wall mount, along with a set of screws and instructions on how to mount. Normally the bigger models add an extra £60 to £90 for one of these special brackets for your TV to be mounted on the wall - unlike the Samsung 19 inch where this perk is thrown in with the purchase. An excellent space saver for all those small rooms as well as being hassle free wires - Worth considering when purchasing.

• Taking into account the size/weight of the TV screen and the solid oval stand it comes with, you will have no problems finding a nesting place for this diminutive 19 inch Samsung - The stand it sits on is secure and safe and not too big, hence giving you far more scope when choosing an area of your home to rest your TV - all this without having to spend vast amounts on a good solid TV stand.

• When purchasing the 19 inch Samsung you are given a light blue cleaning anti-static cloth the same applies to all the other bigger models. Do not throw this way and feel you can clean your TV with polish and a duster. This cloth plays its purpose; it’s an anti-static cloth that can be used to wipe down the screen as well as the black frame keeping it clean. Keep this in a safe place and use when needed. Like all the Samsung black gloss décor range they do seem to collect a lot of dust - maybe because the TV frame is jet black in colour and so the dust is more visible to the naked eye.

• For all those game console guru’s out there , your X-Box 360 & PS2 - Game play will definitely be appreciated even more - Graphics are superb and the images are much sharper than your normal conventional TV`s giving the game play a far more reality to it all- remember only 1 scart lead available though.
