Advantages: Looks great, sounds great, good picture, great price
Disadvantages: takes a while for channels to change
We bought this TV from John Lewis and had it price matched for £350. Not bad considering all TV's from John Lewis come with a free 5 year guarantee!
The first thing to talk about with this television is how it looks. It has a very shiney, sleek design which would fit in well with most rooms. It is mainly black, with a clear curved bottom to it and it sits on an oval shaped black stand. All of the speakers, input sockets and buttons are hidden away behind the TV, leaving nice sleek lines and a beautiful finish.
Setting up the TV was very easy, we simply plugged it in, set it to scan and off it went. It took a few turns to get all of the freeview channels but that is probably due to our dodgy aerial rather than the TV itself. Once the channels were found, it was done and we were ready to go.
The picture is great on this TV. Although it is HD ready, we don't have sky or cable so can't watch things in HD. However, even without the HD, it looks great. It is a lot crisper, sharper and brighter than our previous TV and I am always shocked when I go to my parents and see how dull their picture is in comparison.
The sound is great too, unlike many televisions, you don't need to have the volume right up to be able to hear things clearly. It has great bass for listening to music on the music channels and watching movies on it always sounds great too. We do not have any additional sound system or anything, it is fine as it is.
We also use this TV for playing on the xbox 360 and comparing it with our old TV, well there is just no comparison. Again, the image is crisp and sharp and although our xbox 360 does not have an HD port, my brother has the same TV and uses it with an HD xbox 360 and the image is stunning!! It makes a great deal of difference and it is hard to imagine how it could have looked any better.
I'm not very techy so don't know what all the input and output ports are but there are 2 scart sockets, 2 hdmi sockets and various others for video and audio. Basically, I can't imagine that many people would have more things to plug in than his has space for!
With regards to features, e.g. changing the sound and picture etc, to be honest this isn't something I bother with so can't comment. I know it has different sound options and you can fiddle about with the picture till the cows come home but honestly, there's no need. After setting up, it looks just fine!
The only slight niggle I have with this TV is that it takes a while for the channel to change when you press up or down on the remote. Obviously it isn't a huge deal, just a bit annoying sometimes as you can end up skipping past the channel you wanted! Then again, I am uber impatient and we're talking a second or two delay, no longer.
We haven't had this for long so can't comment too much on reliability but we've had no problems yet and we're very happy with out purchase.
Summary: An excellent TV, especially for the price. Would recommend it to everyone!
