I purchased this TV in Feb 2010 for £349. Before buying I had shopped around, checked out online reviews for many LCD TV's. Having seen many favourable ones for this particular product I decided to go ahead and buy it. Taking it out the box at home, I was impressed with the attractiveness and sleekness of it. It was quite straightforward attaching the base. I think it is wall mountable as well however. Tuning it in with the auto tune feature did not work well. It found all the channels but didn't put them in the correct order. Although I think this is a problem on many TV's. Therefore I just manually tuned each channel. I had to do this again not so long ago due to the digital switchover, but it found all the channels no problem. The remote looks a little clumsy for such a smart TV but works well.
It can be used as a monitor for a computer, so great for watching films if you've no DVD player. It's really easy to set this up. Similarly for games consoles as well.
A feature that did irritate me slightly was the melody that played each time the TV was turned on or off. However going through the settings I so discovered this feature can be turned off.
One of the best features of this TV I think is the quality of sound. It does not need to be at a high level in order to hear it well. I have mine usually between 10-14. Even my mum hears this fine and she wears hearing aids. The picture quality on this is also very good.
Overall I am very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it. Hopefully it will last many years.
I purchased this television earlier this year after a lot of looking at various other makes and models. What drew me towards this product was at the time Samsung had recently won an award for the best quality LCD TV. I like this TV as it was smart looking, and appeared to have all the features I required, such as built in freeview, scart sockets and also a lot of ports on the back for my laptop, home cinema system and games consoles. The majority of the time I do not have any problem with the picture on this television although it does appear to have an auto contrast feature, which can be quite annoying, especially when you are trying to watch a program that has a dark picture as it appears to make the picture darker. I have looked through the settings several times to see if there is a way to switch this off with no joy unfortunately. I also find that the guide does not update so the majority of the time you try to check what is on and it is still an hour behind.
As for the general picture quality it is very good for a 720p and I have not had any problems with any other features.
I would recommend speaking to somebody in the know about these issues before purchasing this product.
I bought this TV a few weeks ago, mainly to match up with my Playstation 3 which I have been playing on a CRT for months. Although it is priced cheaper elsewhere, I could not resist the security offered by John Lewis who sell this TV for £349 with a 5 year warranty. The TV was delivered swiftly and securely.
With its piano black looks this TV is certainly very pretty, and very slim. It was very easy to assemble straight out of the box. The screen is not reflective so is quite easy on the eye.
It took me a while to play with the setting, but it now looks excellent when playing PS3 and utilising its "Gaming Mode", there is very little lag and the frame rate is very smooth, certainly a lot smoother than the Toshiba I looked at in Tesco the other day. I am not a "techie" but this TV certainly looks excellent to my eye, and there are no dead pixels in sight. Its always worth playing with the settings though to get the picture best suited to you. The blacks are excellent and very deep, and colours look vivid and lifelike when settings are adjusted. It even copes with with Standard Definition.
The sound quality is also pretty good for a flat-screen TV, but naturally the limited space means its never going to compete with dedicated sound system.
Overall, it is an excellent TV for the price. Samsungs sell well for a reason, they are reliable and good quality, and the 5 year warranty is just too tempting.
