Advantages: It's not that expensive, it looks brilliant, works fantastically
Disadvantages: The standby problem, why do they do this?
My 'new' toshiba 32 inch tv conked out on me the other week, due to something wrong with a 'circuit' inside, unfortunately amazon didn't have that tv in stock anymore to replace it so I had to go on the search for a new one.
I paid £284 for my toshiba TV and to be honest I didn't want to spend much more on a new one either.
I don't know much about technology etc so the world of TV's is quite simple for me, I knew I wanted a 32 inch TV again, as well as it being black.
I searched amazon again only to come across the Samsung LE32C450 Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview for £294.
If nosing at this tv on amazon it will provide you with quite a bit of high tech info which doesn't mean anything to me in the slightest, the main points to note are:
*Samsung HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview
*Connect your movies, photos and music easily to your TV via USB
*Anynet+ lets you one-touch control any compatible Samsung device connected via HDMI
*3 HDMI slots let you connect more devices in HD quality
*Wide Colour Enhancer brings the true colour of your picture to life
As usual amazon's delivery was prompt and early, the tv came packaged in an extra large samsung decorated cardboard box. Compact and secure packaged neatly again inside polystyrene to keep it safe and prevent any knocks so of course my tv was in pristine condition. Within the box you have your TV, phew lol, Remote control, batteries, power cable, tv cloth and instruction booklet, tv base and screws.
Despite being extra keen to switch your tv on and enjoy it's quality you do have to attach the base to the tv itself, with the screws provided and using your own screw driver you attach the base, ensuring the screws are tight so you can then place your new toy, sorry I mean TV onto your tv stand. Don't let the screws scare you are there are only 3, and there are only 3 available holes to screw them in so no confusion when attaching the base to make it a sturdy, and stylish TV. Before even switching the tv on you notice just how smart and stylish the TV is, the fact it is a flat screen tv makes it even more modern and creates a lovely look within any room. In fact I think it looks more expensive than what it is actually priced, which is brilliant. It is a shiny black colour, with a reddy hint at the very bottom which just adds to the style. Don't be put off by the 'red' though it's very discreet and creates more of a shine to the overall look of the TV rather than a different colour shade to it.
Setting up the TV was incredibly easy, placing the batteries provided into the remote, which is rather large by the way, and standing the tv itself onto my stand I plugged in the power cable and my sky plus lead and switched on the power. It took minutes to set up, just by using the remote, It had steps for me to follow so I didn't even have to read the instructions provided. You can of course adjust the picture but the picture I received instantly was amazing. It was clear, precise, large, colourful, had just the right contrast and brightness, it looks brilliant. The sound is clear, without distorting and sounding buzzy and blurry and the volume is perfect, you don't even have to turn it up that much for the sound to be pretty loud which is impressive.
Unfortunately when it comes to turning the TV on and off, you do this on the remote and it only turns it to standby, like most modern tvs for some reason. The TV makes up for the extra use of electricity though by playing you a little tune when it's switched on and off, nothing cheesy or funky, just a small noise, very similar to one a PC makes when switching on and off.
The very large remote that comes with the TV has large and clearly labelled buttons, pretty self explanatory buttons really without you having to read the instructions which is good, even the dimmest of people, like myself, can find them easy to understand lol. Not only do you have the remote to control some of the TV's functions but you also have a very snazzy 'touch screen' function on the bottom right hand side of the TV itself. They are very discreet markings on the tv allowing you to control the channels and volume, which is handy if perhaps you are in the middle of polishing and want to turn over etc and you are too lazy, like myself, to jump up and fetch the remote off the sofa lol! These are also handy when you have mislaid your remote too.
I'm not a gamer, only thing I play on is a DS but if you are like my brother and into your xbox, playstation etc you would find the 3 available HDMI ports very convenient as they will allow you to keep things plugged in whilst enjoying your gaming.
In the box, I have mentioned, you are provided with a cloth to wipe the tv screen. It wipes down very easily, even after toddlers fingers have sneakily touched it, no end of times I have switched my tv off and voila tiny finger tip marks from my darling 2 year old twins. No fear though, with a gentle wipe using the cloth provided the marks are gone and the screen is clear.
For the price of the TV I think it is fantastic, I was impressed with my previous Toshiba TV, but this is 10 times better for a few pound more. The sound is fabulous and the picture is strong and brilliant without even having to adjust it. It has a modern look to it and looks amazing in my living room as I'm pretty sure it would in many others, at what I would call a budget price really compared to some other TV's. I'd reccomend this TV to anybody looking to purchase a 32 inch TV as I feel it offers more than enough for a TV at nothing but excellent quality.
Summary: A fantastic TV!
