Advantages: Smart, great picture quality and simple installation
Disadvantages: (Very minor) remote control is possibly a little cheap looking,
On moving into my new flat just before Christmas 2009, I was extremely lucky to receive a Samsung LCD TV as a house-warming gift. Having moved from my parents' home, I had brought my 19" Samsung TV with me from my bedroom, and despite it being a great TV in full-working order, it looked a little lost in the lounge on a large cabinet, so I decided it would be relegated to the bedroom.
I've always been impressed by Samsung products; I've usually found them to be sleek, smart and solidly made, and the LE-32C450 is no exception. It fits very smartly in my lounge, and despite being quite large, it is slim and unobtrusive - quite impressive to look at even when its turned off! My only complaint on this front (and it is a very small one) would be with the remote control. It is quite short and stubby, and just doesn't seem to fit the expected sleek and modern Samsung design aesthetic. If it wasn't for the logo, I would assume it was from quite a cheap and simple TV. Having said that, it is again very simple to use and this is only a very minor issue.
It took me around 15-20 minutes to set the TV up, scan for freeview channels, and get it attached to all our other "home entertainment paraphernalia", which was pleasantly surprising. Be warned - it will probably take 2 people to safely attach the TV itself to the stand - although it is not too heavy, a certain amount of precision and balance is required, and I certainly did not want to take the risk of damaging it!
The TV offers a wide range of ports on the back, including 2 HDMI slots for a top quality HD picture, which now accomodate my DVD Player and Xbox 360, as well as a PC slot, which means I also use it regularly as a PC monitor. The plug-and-play compatibility with my Samsung laptop means this is a very simple process, and the novelty of surfing the web on a 32" screen has still not worn off!
One issue I have found with other LCD TVs when using multiple input devices, is that if you are fussy (like me) you often have to tweak the basic settings, such as brightness, contrast, gamma, etc. when changing between movies, games, and so on in order to get the best visual results. On the Samsung LE-32C450 this is relatively straightforward - the menus are clearly laid out and there are many pre-defined settings which optimise the TV for different input formats. I've found this saved a great deal of time and annoyance.
I've always found the picture quality to be fantastic - from regular TV channels, to HDTV, DVDs, Games, and my laptop - this is an all round top performer.
Overall this is a very good LCD TV for a family home, with all the necessary ports to connect a DVD PLayer, Games Console, Set-Top Box, and more. It's relatively simple to use, and looks great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone!
Summary: A great TV and typical Samsung - smart, sleek, high performance and pretty simple to use.
