After having a 30inch smaller LCD Samsung TV I have always been thinking of upgrading to something bigger. Recently one of my friends had bought a new TV and happened to be this Samsung which i am writing this review about.
I never like buying things before I have tried them out or at least seen them in real life so after going around his house seeing and checking this TV out I was pretty pleased.
Picture quality is pretty epic since you get Full HD at 1080p and at 40inches that really does pay off and show.
Samsung has also given this television a 178° viewing angle so if your sat at an angle to the TV it does not go darker or harder to see, the same if you have this mounted on a wall and have to look up at it.
I really do love the contrast around the screen with the black front plate against the screen and the white bar at the bottom of the screen adding even more to the experience.
I was worried about linking up my old DVD players ect up to this and weather it would have scart cable sockets but after having a peek at the back panel seeing it has a scart socket and also 3 HDMI ports so you can link bluray players in, gaming consoles ect.
I also like with the television you can link it with a computer and tried that out at my friends house and it really does work really well. After setting the right resolution on the computer you can almost use the screen as a computer monitor.
If you are thinking of putting this into a home cinema or you are just a person who wants the sound to be as good as the picture quality, don't rely on the sound that comes with the television. It's always best to buy a home cinema or make one for a fraction of the price, buy an amplifier for around £50 and the speakers will set you back around £150 but after having spent that on the TV you will get the epic sound experience with the televion quality.
If you have around £700 to spend you can get this and the sound experience. £700 is not bad though compared to some plasmas and LCD TVs that cost in the region of £1000 or even £2000!
My friend said his model of this Samsung has never failed him and neither has mine so far, it was very easy to use and also very quick plug-in installation if you are just using the TV without a computer.
The features are very handy like the rca ports on the back if you want to link a home cinema in and all the HDMI ports and scart socket.
However these televisions will be a thing of the past soon because LG are making new televisions with amazing quality even better than full HD that are an ultra thin 2mm and will have no frame. It is up to you though weather to dosh out £700 on this or wait and dosh out a bit more when the new LG televisions come out.
Summary: Very neat and big TV for only a few hundred pounds, great buy in my view
