We've had this TV for a while now but apparently it has been discontinued and is no longer made. It cost around £600 at the time and is still working very well. When I first watched this TV, I was very impressed by the high definition and great quality picture, which is ever so large and looks great with the Samsung design around the screen.
The TV has a black plastic part surrounding the screen. It does not have a matt texture but gives off a shiny appearance. To either side of this border are two tall speakers that run up the whole sides of the TV. The speakers are quite good and the sound can be turned up very high. However, for excellent sound quality and surround sound, you'd need to buy a set of speakers separately.
The television does have built in surround sound, but it's not very effective when you sit back from the television and there are no speakers behind you to help set spatial surroundings. The bottom border around the screen has the silver Samsung logo in capital letters. This black border makes the picture look great and acts as a great border, which I think is very important and something that makes modern day televisions look so good. Although a white border or silver one may look like a better design, I don't think it would help the picture to look as good. The jet black border on this television contrasts nicely with the vivid picture on the screen.
There is a silver panel however below the border, which makes it look furthermore modern. This has a good size power button bang in the middle, used to switch on and off the television without using standby. The television sits on a stand, which smoothly spreads out to provide a good base. The television sits relatively well on the table we have it on, but you can buy wall fittings to fit it to a wall too, which may look better. This base also has a shiny effect. The black on the border and base keeps the television looking great as you can't notice it getting dirty or even marks. I do give it a good dusting every now and then but pretty much leave the screen alone, which seems to stay mark-free with a little dust every now and then.
The remote that comes with the television is quite long and narrow. It's black on the top and grey on the bottom surface. It contains all the controls for the television in a regular design and is quite full of functions, for digital TV too that this one can show. It's a superb television and wasn't too expensive. Although three-dimensional technology is now flying into our shops, I still think HD LCD televisions like this one will be in great use for a good while and their prices will drop too. I'd certainly recommend this television or a similar one from Samsung as the picture is very vivid and clear on a nice large screen, which contrasts beautifully with the frame.

I have had this television for a couple of years now and I must say that it's flawless. It's a real pleasure to watch as it looks fantastic and the screen quality is excellent. It's very modern and supports all modern day cables so you can connect your DVD player, games consoles, Sky box and everything else.
The television can be bought online or from electrical stores such as Currys for around £640, which isn't bad at all. You get a huge 40 inch HD ready television with HDMI and iDTV (digital television). It has a 3000:1 dynamic ratio, which gives superb contrast between the blacks and whites and a clear gradation between them, which leads to a vivid picture.
Samsung's 10 bit processing method gives 6.4 billion colours available for a superb picture. That's an awful lot of colours! The television has a digital natural image engine, which delivers the most life-like images as close to real life as they can get. The television is excellent for gaming too, as I am an Xbox 360 owner. You can switch to game mode, which realy puts you in the game with a faster response time and sharpness. The surround sound effects are also enhanced to really put you in the game and make it an enjoyable experience. Note that Samsung are sponsors of the Xbox 360 so all of their game demos are played on Samsung TVs.
You can even hook up a PC to the television to view the display on a huge 40 inch screen. The television has built in digital TV, which is useful considering we are all switching over to digital soon enough.
It looks fabulous too. A shiny black border with the silver Samsung logo below surrounds the black screen. There are big vertical speakers either side on the television and below is a silver panel where the On/Off button lies right in the middle. The television leads down to a smooth base, which is shiny black too. It looks really modern with the smooth curve of the base, which can stand on a television stand, desk or a table.
Overall, it's an excellent television and works really well. It comes with a long black remote, which is easy to use and I've never had a problem with the television. The picture quality is first class and you get a large quality picture, which is really clear and life-like but you mustn't sit too close to it. I'd recommend buying one if you can although it's now a discontinued product.
