Bought this TV around a year ago now and we are loving it. Stylish, Simple and with all the features we need. Cheapest place at the time to buy it was Currys but that might not be the case now - as always shop around for the best deal.
This TV is quite confusing to turn on as the on switch is at the side - this took me a while to find as i am one of them people who dont read the manuals! Before this it was very easy to set up and install a DVD player and sky.

Good value, good looking TV which is HD ready. Can be wall mounted or use the stand. This TV is very easy to install and use. It looks great with the black surround and base. The only problem is that the shiny black base attracts dust like a magnet! I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a good value, good brand TV with a range of features but not too complicated to install or use.
Overall - great TV.
Having recently added a conservatory to the back of the house to give us a bit more space, we decided that it was time to bite the bullet and buy a new LCD television for this room as all of our other televisions are rather big and bulky we wanted something that was slim line and would fit in with the decor.
As I am the only smoker in the house and I have now been banished to the conservatory for my quick puffs, but as I am a soap addict I had to have a television in there if I was to stick to this rule.
My husband said it was my choice and I spend days trawling the internet to find the best television with the best features at the best prices. I have to say this was a challenge as I didn't have the first clue about televisions, I would normally think that you plug it in and off you go, how wrong I was.
WHAT INFLUENCED MY CHOICE
I finally settled for the Samsung 37" this trumped any ideas of a plasma screen as I had read so many horrific reviews on how plasma screens get damaged easily, lost picture quality and the pixels die easily leaving you with little black patches. I looked into what it would cost to replace the every failing tubes on a plasma and to be honest I would have been better buy a new Television, so I thought that the plasma was defiantly the wrong way to go.
Once I had settled for the LCD versions I needed to figure out the size I needed, some were so small I would have to squint to see the picture, so I wanted a telly that would not get lost in my new space.
After an hour with a tape measure I settled with w 37" size, this wasn't as big as the television in the living room, but in my opinion the one we already had is far to big at 50", this was my husbands choice so it just goes to show that boys love their toys.
I opted for the Samsung brand as this it a name we have gone with for years and never had a problem, so quite frankly Sony and every other brand didn't even get a look in. The only thing I knew when I started to look was that I wanted to stick with Samsung.
THE SAMSUNG LE37A616
The first thing that attracted me to this television was the way it looked, it has a very high glossy black frame that sits perfectly on a steel silver stand. When you buy a television you pay for the screen size and this little baby actually has a 37" screen that is perfectly flat and this size does not include the frame so you will have to allow for that if you are squeezing it into a tight spot.
The television came in a much bigger box than I expected, I had to lower the back seats just to get it into the car. The size of the box was down to all of the protective packaging around the television.
Once I un-boxed it I sat and read through the instruction manual to try and get my head around it, but as my husband was home at the time he took over and plugged it all in within minutes, so the set up was really simple, if he can do it with out instructions I am sure anyone could do it.
The thing that took the time was the channel tuning as there are so many channels because of the free view and the terrestrial channels, but thankfully this was done automatically by hitting one little button on the remote. All I had to do was sit back and admire as my new television did all of the hard work.
This would fit in lovely in my newly decorated room but I had to see what else this fantastic television had to offer.
This comes with full 1080 HD and a built in free view, which has benefited me already as it has saved my buying an additional free view box, as I could not stand cables running from the other box through the house to my new television.
Another thing it has is a PC input, so I can hook up a PC if I wanted to watch anything from the internet, I could also surf the net and it would all be displayed on the television, This is something that I would never do but I know I have the option if I wanted to.
These are some of the other features it has to offer, integrated digital tuner and SRS Trusurround XT, movie plus, 3x HDMI, S-video, 2 x scart connections and PC connection.
The 37" screen is made up of 1920 x 1080 pixels that make up the screens resolution giving you a perfect and precise picture at all times. This really made a difference, I could not believe it when I watched the football you could even see the fine blades of grass on the pitch.
Even the colour seems to be much better than anything I have ever watched before, it picture just seems a lot brighter but I am not sure if it is just me.
This has a 220 volt power cable so it is compatible with any UK mains supply.
The televisions dimensions a 923mm in width, 300mm in diameter and lastly 658mm in height.
This is a very compact television that is very slim line and stylish to look at, I have found this to be very practical and serves the purpose it was purchased for and more.
PRICE / AVAILABLITY
I spend days looking around the internet for this model and I found many places such as amazon.co.uk that do this exact model, but as I wanted to see it before hand I took a walk to Currys just so I could look at it.
Here it was £649.99, which is roughly £50.00 more than the price online, but when I walked into Currys a friend of mine had just started to work for them, so she go me the television at 20% off of its original price, so I got this for a little over £420.00.
So all in all the television has been an exceptional buy as I also got a years warranty from Currys and a three year Manufacturers warranty, all for the bargain price of £420.00. I did buy my friend a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates for getting such a great deal.
You can even buy wall brackets for this model to hang the television on the wall, these are very expensive at 70.00 each but if it is some thing you want then you have no choice but to pay out for them.
I personally sit the television on a glass TV unit and I think it looks great, although it does take some dusting.
The huge box it came in was a little bit over the top but has also served a good purpose it is now wrapped up in silver paper and supports my Christmas tree, which stands beside the television and I love it as the fairy lights reflect off of the high gloss screen.
I am amazed at how sharp and precise the picture is, as I have said in my review you can see every little detail even on little things like blades of grass, it is truly amazing. I now spend all of my spare time in my cigarette den with my new television.
I am so glad I got this television I am completely happy with my buy and what makes it better is the fact that I have three years warranty with it, so I know if I have any problems I am covered.
I would recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a new television, as it offers many neat features that I am still getting to grips with.
We recently decided it was time to replace the old 14" portable TV in the bedroom. We have two LCD TV's downstairs, but quite often watch the one in the bedroom either just before we go to sleep or while getting dressed in the morning or getting ready to go out somewhere, so it made sense to replace the 14" for something a bit more up to date.
What To Choose In Such A Big Market
This was left entirely up to me as my wife does not understand the finer points of television buying, she just wants to be able to switch it on and watch stuff!!
I definately wanted an LCD, as I don't like the idea of gradually losing picture quality untill it goes completely leading to expensive re-gassing, a problem I have heard of with Plasmas, also you cannot hang plasmas over coal fires, not a problem for us in the bedroom but was for the two we had bought previously for downstairs.
We have a Phillips and a Samsung downstairs, and whilst both are very good televisions, the Samsung is far far better than the Philips and actually a lot better than a lot of our friends televisions in my opinion and so for this reason I decided the new one would be a Samsung.
And then to size!! The area in the bedroom where the TV would be going would just about fit a 37", a real shame really as I have found the best priced LCD TV's seem to be the 42", but this would be too big, so I would have to settle for a slightly smaller (and dearer) one.
When I first saw the Samsung LE37A616, I liked the fact that the frame was quite square and was in a glossy black finnish. It also ticked my main boxes, in that it was 1080 full HD, it had built in freeview and it had a pc input. The picture seemed to be very good also.
As already mentioned above it has full 1080 HD, built in freeview and a pc input, which were the main three things on my wish list as well as good looks! But all the other features are listed below:

Where To Get One From?
When I decided this was the TV for us, went home and had a look on the internet for it to compare prives. In Currys It was up for £649.99, which I thought was ok really, plus they had one in stock so I could have taken it home the same day.
However I found the exact same TV on Play.com for only £599.99 with free delivery. Added to this I could log into Play.com through one of my casback sites and get 0.5% cashback, not a lot but another £3 in my pocket rather than theirs, so I ordered it and sat back to wait for it to be delivered.
So What's It Actually Like?
The Samsung arrived 3 days after ordering, which I was quite happy with. I unwrapped it and found it to be just as good looking as I remembered. Set-up was extremely simple just plug it all in and hit auto tune, and wait for it scan through and find all the channels it could. There where quite a few in the end as it has the built in freeview, and once it had found everything it could, I settled down to watch something on it.
The picture is truly amazing, very sharp and detailed, the colours also seem a lot better than on my Phillips and also a bit better than my other (much older) Samsung. The sound is not dissapointing either, although this is not as good as my Philips which has a built in sub-woofer and makes the sound brilliant, I would reccomend looking out for one of these, if you are looking for a new TV and will not have surround sound. I think eventually we will end up getting a DVD player for this new TV with a built it 2:1 sound system, although like I say it is good enough and it is only a bedroom TV at the end of the day.
I have had a Playstation 2 playing through the Samsung and an Xbox 360 and the results where very good. the picture, as when you are watching TV, is excellent and scrolls smoothly and effitiently, also the sound is as good. I have also had a computer running through it and this is also very clear, having used it to surf the internet and watch online movie clips etc..
Also through a games console we have watched a couple of DVD's through the TV which were as good as everything else.
Originally we had the TV on its stand on top of some drawers, however we were getting a bit of sound 'rattle' coming through them so I decided to get a wall bracket for it.
I found one on ebay for just under £40.00 and fixed it to the bedroom wall, it is a pull out and angle bracket meaning you can have it flush against the wall or up to 27" away from the wall and can tilt the television up and down as well as angle it left or right. This was a great investment and one I would reccomend to anyone, not only can you have the Tv at almost any viewing angle, but you can also have it flush to the wall (well 4" away) and to me this is what this television was made for, it really looks like a work of art hanging on your wall.
Other Televisions In The Series
The Samsung LE37A616 comes from the 6 Series which also includes a 19", a 22" and a 32" version if you want a smaller one and if bigger is better there is also a 40" and a 46" version from the same range, however I think the specification might vary on some of these different sized models.
All in all to conclude on this television I would have to say I am very happy with it. The picture is really really good, the sound might not be the best but this is easily fixed with a surround sound system which are not expensive these days and most come with built in DVD player so are well worth having. The overall look of the television is excellent and it is very easy to set up and to use. It is also very good for gaming with games consoles, offering excellent picture and smoth seamless scrolling. Would I reccomend this television? YES!!
Thanks For Reading, Also On Ciao
