I bought this TV a while back. After reading up on the current options at the time it seemed like the best choice for me. The image quality is very good for bluray movies however it is let down slightly by its handling of standard definition picture. Standard input such as SD satellite TV has a slight blur and there are visible blocks. Fast moving object also suffer when not played through a high definition source.
I have had this TV for over a year now and the only problem I have ever had with it was with the backlight. The light suddenly went out one day and rendered the TV impossible to watch. Samsung were however a credit to themselves and sent a repair man to me almost straight away. They fixed the problem by replacing the faulty mainboard and it has worked fine ever since.
It is very easy to use, the controls are well laid out and the menus are clear. The TV comes pre-set so all you have to do is plug it in and go. You can fiddle about with the picture setting but this isn't necessary to get started.
The sound quality could be better as you can hear a vibration from the bass even during mid-volume speech. The sound is however full and not tinny.
Finally, this TV allows for a great amount of optimisation in the picture setting and it has many ports. It does however lack a few of the features that are now becoming standard in newer TV sets such as LED backlighting however this is to be expected due to its age.
Samsung has built a stellar reputation in the fine art of television manufacturing. Besides offering an incredible amount of value, the product itself easily competes head on with similar products costing hundreds of dollars more. How? Simple. Being one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world has its benefits. Utilizing a high percentage of Samsung's own parts allows it to focus the attention on high quality throughout the design. Result? A world-class product that truly dazzles the eye.
