Samsung SP-43J6HD ... flatscreen 32in cathode ray tube TVs. The SP43J6HD is Samsung's second generation of LCD rear projection TV, following on from the SP-403JHA, and arrives as the proud winner of CES Show's 'Innovation 2000 Design and Engineering Award'. It carries a 767, 500-pixel TFT-LCD panel illuminated by a 100W lamp projected onto a high contrast screen. With burnished gold side panels and a fancy glass-topped, subwoofer-containing stand, it's a marvelously regal-looking unit, which easily fulfils the current requirement for attractiveness and functionality. And no eyesore front inputs are on show either; a stereo audio input, composite video input, S-video input and headphone jack are tucked down the rear side of one of the gold columns. Right round the back meanwhile, are three Scarts (one RGB capable), stereo audio outputs, spring clip connections for rear speakers, and the RF input. Other features include Pro-Logic decoding with a subwoofer built into the stand, progressive scan technology, AV-Link for enhanced VCR communication, and noise reduction for smoothing out weak signals. What really gives the set an edge is the active subwoofer, which underpins movie action in a way few other TVs can dream about. The side-firing left and rights do their bit too, presenting a wide soundstage and clear effects.

have to be good looking and aesthetically pleasing. This TV is exactly that – the colour and shape are striking and the stand non-obtrusive. Talking of the stand, this Samsung has a nifty stand which allows the TV to be twisted both ways without the stand moving, allowing it to rotate on its own axis. The built in Freeview Tuner is good, but does depend on you having a strong signal, so may be no use in some areas of the country. One small and simple feature which many TVs do not offer is a clock and sleep timer – this does fortunately. From new, installation of the TV is very straight forward. We've had this tv just over a month and spent a long time researching 32" LCD screens before actaully making the purchase. I'm not going to go into technical details; how many HDMI sockets it has etc, but I will give you my brief opinion of it from an everyday users perspective. The TV looks simply stunning sat in the lounge on our TV stand (it can be wall mounted too I believe). The picture is absolutely brilliant.
