Background - I have already reviewed the Samsung HTZ-310R which in my opinion is the best partner for the Samsung LE37A556 (5 series) short of a HD or Blue ray player. I will discuss the pair s compatibility later but if you are seriously interested in buying this TV I suggest looking at a 1080P HD up scaling DVD player like the HTZ-310R or a HD / Blue ray player, it will produce a picture far superior to a standard DVD player. So on to the TV then, I purchased the HTZ-310R as part of my mum and dad s 30th wedding anniversary present, my dads TV had been on the fritz for a few months and it was in dire need of replacement. I bought this tv about 8 months ago for my bedroom & it's great, i've had absolutely no problems with it what so ever. Setting it up was easy, you simply plug it in & it automatically tunes in which only takes approximately 5 minutes. I didn't look at the manual once, it come with built in freeview which is a nice accessory if you dont have sky or a freeview box in your bedroom. Before i bought this tv i was considering buying the tv without freeview & a seperate freeview box to go with it which would have worked out £20 cheaper but im definately glad i bought the combo as it's alot smarter & obviously takes up less space.
