The look of the TV is very modern.to make this easier however the t.v itself would still load pages slowly. The 3D feature is probably one of the best I have ever seen, because I did a lot of research before buying TV.With a very sleek design, the Samsung is very aesthetically pleasing, and look good in any home, rather than being an entertainment warhorse.
if you are not a technology wiz then this TV can be a bit overwhelming. 40inch is pleanty for me. He hasn't connected the surround sound speakers , however, the sound is far better than mine.I also love the fact that the TV itself is so slim and light so it's easy to move around. It was catch-up and wi-fi connection which I personally felt changed television most for me as it integrates the Internet and the television together really good .i prefer everyone to buy this tv.
The quality of this 3D tv is seriously amazing, when I purchased this TV in PC world the quality just stood out beside all the other Tv's. I wasn't to sure about watching normal tv on 3D because I thought the image would be low quality or i'd get sick of wearing the glasses but it's a fantastic experience. When watching blue ray movies and DVDs etc the 3D is fantastic. I also love the fact that the TV itself is so slim and light so it's easy to move around. Another great thing about this TV is that it has the ability to record certain programmes for you, all you have to do is state what date and time the show starts and plug in a USB memory stick and it records. I would recommend this TV to anyone as its so easy to set up, also family's with smaller kids would enjoy the 3D element.
Got myself one of these televisions just before Christmas..............and boy was i impressed!!
Firstly, setting up the tv is a doddle, it was simply a case of following the on screen instructions.
Secondly, setting up the televison to the internet was also very simple, again, just a case of following the instructions.
The Picture quality is superb, and the layout of the different screens on the menu is wonderful.
I have particularly enjoyed using the Apps section, where you get great apps such as "youtube" and "tunein radio".
It is so great been able to watch youtube videos on my telly rather than on my computer!!
The remote control is also very impressive, and really easy to use, and even has the option to record tv, but if i am honest, I haven't tested this out yet.
All in all, its a cracking telly, and i would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to invest in a new TV.
To begin with I shall discuss the positives. I have yet to see a TV on the market when we were looking for a new set, that matches the crispness and quality of this picture. Unmatchable in every way. We had not had a new TV in a few years so the picture difference was noticeable and the 3D function, especially with sport is mesmerising. We genuinely feel like we are watching the game in front of us, such is the clarity of picture and depth of 3D.
This said, if you are not a technology wiz then this TV can be a bit overwhelming. Three different 3D settings and 5 remotes have often left us baffled as to which remote to use when. Although once there, the picture is fantastic and there is not a TV out there to rival it, getting to a show can be a bit of a mission!
About 6 months ago my old HDTV TV had died, so I went to PC world and tested out the wide range of TV's that they had on display. For me this one stood out, as the Specs were way better than the others and it was considerably cheaper than the other models.
At the time of purchase there was a sale on, and I managed to snag this beauty up for £600. With the deal I was given two pairs of glasses and a Blu-ray player (Which I somehow lost :( ) and I was given a year warranty for free.
I got home and first tried to set up the TV stand, this took a while as I lost some of the screws. So after an hour I managed to build the TV stand, I then proceeded to open the TV box, in the box it contained a manual, a leaflet to claim offers, another leaflet to claim the 3D glasses, and the power cable. The TV is encased in bubble wrapping and there a variety stickers on the display, once I took it out and unwrapped it I proceeded to put it on the TV stand. The TV is a 40inch it is quite heavy to lift (as I'm not much of a macho man). After placing it on the TV stand it looked really great.
The design of the TV is nice sleek, it is really beautiful, it is nice and slim. This TV can be mounted on the wall to provide a better TV viewing experience, but since I'm not much of a handy man, I just decided to by a TV stand and placed it in the corner of my living room. The wall mount stand can be purchased separately.
Once I connected up my sky box to the TV, I then started up the TV. Connecting the sky box to the TV is a quick process you just need to connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the TV (which is located at the back). Once started up it took a while to load, but once loaded I had to refer to the manual as the remote control had quite a lot of buttons and it was quite confusing to figure out what each one does. Once I figured out the control I went to the menu setting and configured the TV to my liking. There a variety of options which are all useful. Some of the options were:
Power saving mode - which puts the TV into power sleep mode when not being used.
Connectivity - you can connect the TV to the internet which will allow you to use some of the online features and you can connect some devices using Bluetooth.
3D mode - you control program it so that when you press a button it will turn on 3D mode
Image quality - you can program it to choose the quality of the image you wanted.
Voice control - You are able to control the TV using your voice.
Smart hub - this allows you to access the online services, internet browser, app store etc.
Once I had messed about with the setting. Instantly I saw it was a huge improvement from my old TV, the image quality is absolutely brilliant. The thing I watched was football, in Full HD 1080p it is really breath-taking. You are able to see so much detail in the image, I was able to see Wayne Rooney face in all its glory.
For the 3D glasses I had to register it online, and from there they would send me the glasses in 2 weeks or so. Once I received my glasses I sat down with my daughter and we watched UP in 3D. Before we could watch it I had to sync the glasses with the TV, this took around 5 minutes, I just had to press the sync button on the glasses and the TV just automatically recognised it with no problem. The glasses fitted well on myself and my daughter. We did have to take a break around every half an hour, because my daughter eyes were starting to hurt. Throughout the movie my Daughter loved it, she was amazed how the characters would pop out the screen. For me it was stunning, I have never experienced 3D before, but this was something else it was really impressive.
The sound quality is great, there a few option in which you can change the sound to your liking, I had it set on DTS 5.1 as at the time I was watching a movie. This audio enhancement is great, you can hear everything loud and clear.
After the 3D movie I got my laptop and tried to stream a movie from there to the TV using the Wi-Fi. This was a quick job, the TV has a smart hub feature. The smart hub feature allows you to watch programs using the online TV services such as iPlayer, ITV player 5OD and many more. This feature was very good for my wife as she does tend to miss out on a lot TV programs, accessing the smart hub is very easy as the remote has a big button on it called Smart Hub. She just needs to press that and then click on TV services and you then just click on the option that you want.
On my laptop all I had to do is use the Allshare application which I downloaded from the Samsung website. This allows the devices to communicate with the TV. It was really easy to setup and within a couple of munities I was able to stream movies to my TV. this app can also be downloaded on to your mobile phone and tablets. which is useful, i have used the app on my sons phone and it is really good, it is easy to use, and you can display pictures and videos from the app to the TV
The TV has two USB ports which allow you to hook up your external hard drives or USB sticks to the TV.
I have been using this feature for quite some time and it is really good, you just need to place a movie or TV show on the device plug it into the TV, go to the smart hub, it will then detect the device and then it will show you the list of media content on the device for you to select.
The TV also has an app store in which you can download apps from, you are also able to browse the internet, check you're Facebook and twitter and many more. When switching between apps to the browser I did not expertise any lag (slowness) when switching, this is due to the TV having a dual core processor which helps it to be able to multi-task.
The TV does have a Freeview tuner in which it does take at least 10 minutes to find the Freeview channels that are available. Once it has completed its search it will then show you a menu of the TV channels, you can then select the one you want. I did experience a bit of delay when switching from channel to channel. When switching to another channel it will show a blank screen for at least a second and then it will display the program.
The TV also has a Voice control feature which I okay at times, sometimes you would need to speak slowly and clearly in order for it to understand, in which sometimes can be frustrating. But most of the time you won't actually be using the voice control. You would only use it when you are bored.
The TV uses around 61W when turned on, it has an energy class rating of A. The TV uses a 3D hyper real engine, this allows for the image to be crystal clear, and helps to bring out the colour and contrast, which gives the best 3D viewing experience. It has 3x 2.0 USB ports and 4 HDMI ports.
Overall this is an awesome TV, the design looks great, and it blends in with the room. The variety of features on the TV will keep you entertained. Using the Allshare application it makes it easier to stream movies from a laptop, mobile devices and tablets. The image Quality in 2D as well as 3D is breath-taking you are able to see every little detail in the image, it is crisp and clear. The audio quality is great there options to enhance the audio which is useful when watching a movie. I would definitely recommend this to anyone it is a great TV.
This review is of the Samsung UE40F656510 40 inch widescreen LED television.
I was looking for a new television and this was recommended by a friend as they had one and found that it had a good picture quality and seemed robust and reliable. It is also an 'intelligent' television which can make recommendations on what you should watch based on previous viewing. There are also other sizes of the same television available including the 32 inch and the 46 inch model.
In terms of the looks I found that the television seemed stream-lined, sleek and modern. The edge on the television is kept to a minimum so that the picture comes nearly to the edge of the television itself. It also comes with a silver stand which I didn't particularly like but did seem to have a modern look.
The extra functions on this television I did find of interest, especially as I could link my Samsung phone to the television and use it as a second screen. The television also has its own built in wi-fi which allows people to connect to catch-up services such as BBC iPlayer, ITV catch-up and 4OD and I did find this facility really useful.
It was the catch-up and wi-fi connection which I personally felt changed television the most for me as it integrates the Internet and television together really well. Watching Youtube or BBC iPlayer on a large screen is much more useful to me than watching it on a laptop and browsing the Internet is smooth and entirely functional. The sound quality was also better than the speakers from my laptop and the picture quality was as good as I've seen from a television.
I didn't use some functions of the television which included the voice recognition facility, but I also never use this facility on my phone. The television does create a schedule of viewing based on your viewing but again I didn't fine this particularly useful or relevant to me, but it was an interesting function which might be useful to others. The television is 3D compatible but again I don't watch 3D movies and I would have had to have purchased glasses to use this, so I haven't tested this particular function.
I took the specifications from the product literature although it didn't all mean a great deal to me. The television has 400hHz CMR motion technology, full HD 1080p picture resolution, is compatible with 3DTV, has a 20 watt speaker output and offers screen mirroring. The energy consumption is 62 kilowatts per years and the television weighs 13 kilograms.
The television cost me £549 in a 10% off sale at John Lewis but is currently available for £619.99 on Amazon and a little cheaper on eBay.
Overall I would recommend this television to others as I felt that the picture quality was excellent and I also enjoyed the extras which came with it in terms of the 'intelligent' programming, even if I only used it infrequently. I did though find the integration with the catch-up services was excellent saved me using a laptop to watch episodes I had missed. For the price I felt that it represented good value for money and I am confident it seems robust and well-made so should last.
I was hesitant in upgrading my current 36" LED FULL HD TV for a smart one, after all, i had no experience, and just depended on what i saw in the stores....fortunately it wasn't a difficult decision once i'd got this out of the box and set up.
Speaking of set up, it's remarkably easy, with a fully automated process you can have all your digital channels programmed in under a mintute, choose your favorite colour balance, i personally prefer the default settings as the greens, blues, reds are spot on without being artificial.
Picture quality is stunning, you should see how Blu rays look on this baby, it's like looking back at yourself in a reflection of water on a crystal clear lake!
You get of course the setup manual, power cables, quick start guide, remote plus batteries and besides the obvious gorgeous picture quality you'd expect with a brand like Samsung you get 3D, wifi, internet, when they say smart they're not joking, Samsung crammed a dual core processor in this tv to make surfing a breeze, now i don't have to get out my netbook just for checking my emails, i can do it on my TV, now that is intelligent and it's why i'd recommend anyone looking to upgrade to a smart tv to take a serious look at this one!
This Samsung is a first of its kind. The first 3D capable TV available in the UK. Quite a coup when you think about it - beating several huge competitors to it (I.e. Sony, LG).
With a very sleek design, the Samsung is very aesthetically pleasing, and will look good in any home, rather than just being an entertainment warhorse. It's very well equipped when it comes to connections. With 4 HDMI's, two USBs, an Ethernet jack, and a D-Sub PC port.
The internet TV included with this is exceptional. With a simply WIFI, or ethernet connection, you have a whole new world of entertainment at the click of a button. With Netflix, Now TV, Twitter, Love Film and Skype (providing you add an external camera) to name a few. There are even a few games! Although if you are a "gamer", you might snigger when you see them. This very impressive bit of kit is going to last you a long time, so it's worth forking out the money for it.
I bought this TV three months ago and I can gladly say that it's great. Thanks to the detailed guide I was able to install it in just a few minutes. Picture quality is top notch and the built in audio system gets the job done (you didn't have to buy additional TV audio equipment unless you want some special effects). The 3D feature is probably one of the best I have ever seen, because I did a lot of research before buying this TV. What I really like about Samsung UE40F6510 is that it is very light and easy to adjust. So far I didn't have any technical problems and I hope it stays this way. I must mention that I am a big Samsung fan and that's why I am certain that this amazing TV won't fail me in the future. I would highly recommend this TV to any buyer that wants quality.
Having shopped around a fair bit before investing in my new Samsung smart TV I must admit it took me a lot of retail visit's and 'friendly sales chats' before feeling happy to depart with my hard earned cash, It was after seeing one of these units in action on the retail front which eventually persuaded me to buy online for £650 including delivery.
The main reason I wanted a new TV was one the old one was buggered! lol, so a new one was on the cards anyway, secondily it was time to move with times and go flatscreen as the old CRT was taking up way to much space aswell as coming to the end of its life-cycle, it wasn't long after venturing in to the technological world that the 'specialists' starting speaking all this Jargon but to cut the journey short this baby comes HD and 3D ready meaning your receive the highest in viewing quality (1080p) with 3D capability this in effect brings the cinema effect as we know it to our homes for the best in 3D movies and gaming, you can even switch between 2D and 3D easily although quality output depends on individual content.
The unit is a 40inch black LED widescreen design with a stylish titanium style stand, so what's so special?.. Well it's smart. and that must mean one thing.. its the next best thing!!
Smart TV is another fad in which we will all at some point become a part of, Instead of just being a TV your old-fashioned new style device is basically an upto date advanced computer featuring its own in built micro-processor offering features and Apps which allow more content to become available to the user by third party's such as BBC iPlayer for streaming of on-demand content.
Picture quality is perfect, and with a leading industry name in electronics you can't go wrong. Manufacturers warranty as standard and all leads, remote control etc included to get up and running.
Another cool feature included with this unit is the Samsung S-Recommendation technology which recommends programs and series in accordance to your preferences, whoever thought the TV might be able to help us choose what to watch!!
Installation is straight forward including searching for digitial TV and radio channels aswell as connecting to Wifi networks and accessing Facebook all at the click of your remote.
Get ready for the future of digital with a not so steep price tag.
Would recommend for anyone interested in this sort of purchase.
I wanted one of these tv's but it wasn't released when i was is need of a new one. But my best buddy bought this and i have to say i'm very jealous. Its a good size and not over powering like most tv's these days. 40inch is pleanty for me. He hasn't connected the surround sound speakers up, however, the sound is far better than mine, perfect for watching movies and listening to the music channels. Its very light and fairly thin so its perfect for mounting on to the wall and keep it out of the way of the little ones. The 3D function is very crisp and clear, sports and movies look amazing. He said the only real downfall is the smart tv function but that his him being really picky. Samsung have really excelled on this tv, and its a top name you can trust. I will be looking at selling mine now and buying one of these...
We bought this t.v as a t.v for our family room. My partner chose this one specifically because it was a reasonable price with all of the latest smart t.v technology but not ridiculously oversized as most t.vs seem to be now! We use the t.v for general day to day watching as we have a bigger one for watching movies in the living room.
We have attached the TV to the wall as its light enough to do so and it keeps it out of the way of grubby little hands! We don't have it hooked up to a surround sound system etc but the sound from the t.v is easily good enough to watch films from if you wanted too. Its very clear and I often have the music channels blasting whilst i'm cleaning with no crackles or fuzziness like I used to get when I turned my old t.v up to loud. The picture quality is very good especially on the HD channels. We have also found that when we look at photos we have taken on our camera on the t.v they look very crisp and the colours are a lot brighter.
The look of the TV is very sleek and modern. I particularly like the fact that the rim is practically non-existent. We bought the t.v for the smart capability however we briefly used it on the first day and we haven't touched that feature again since! Its very slow there's a very limited amount of apps and the ones that are available seem to be pointless. Its a pain to type anything when your searching as your using the remote control. You can buy a keyboard to make this easier however the t.v itself would still load the pages slowly. Its much quicker and easier to use your mobile device or computer. The apps are minimal and to be honest I think a lot more work needs to be done on the Smart Tv aspect before company's use it to sell their products. Its shockingly slow.
The 3D capabilities are good and my girls enjoy watching there 3d disney films on it but really its little more than a gimmick and i'm personally not interested in it especially with the extra cost of the 3D DVDs. We have also found that there are a limited amount of 3D films available however after speaking to several members of staff in various shops this is hopefully meant to be changing and there should be more being made over the next few years.
The t.v is reasonably priced especially if you get it with a discount code like we did however I do feel that a normal tv would have been just as good without all of the silly gimmicks. We also had four pairs of 3d glasses included for free as we haggled a bit and some free dvds.
All the silly extras were a waste of money and I wouldn't buy a smart tv just for the smart aspect of it.
