      a smart tv indeed!

A great product we are pleased we waited for. I think if we would have bought a similar tv a year ago, it would have been out of date. The picture is amazing quality, very sharp, very "natural" - didn't realise quite how rubbish the old tv's picture was! The 3D left me a bit underwhelmed to begin with as the action didn't come out of the screen as I'd expected (didn't have 3D on this model showing in the showroom), everything seemed more vibrant at the back of the picture. But having rented some 3D blu-rays, I can honestly say my opinion has changed - 3D is how I imagined it should be. The glasses are a bit strange however, i don't like that they don't cover all of your eye - they seem to be quite small in the viewing area - you have to move your head, not just your eyes. And because they don't cover the whole of the eye, you do get some "flicker" around your periphial vision. This aspect is probably the worst thing about the product. Other glasses I have seen seem to be much bigger and more comfortable. I do struggle to watch a whole film with the glasses on as they do feel awkward - but I don't wear glasses normally.

The smart aspect is pretty cool. The menu is easy to navigate, for example within a few minutes we were on netflix (shame their films are rubbish!!!), youtube and facebook. The facebook page needs some work as you hope for the same home page that you are used to, but it's not, and it takes a bit of patience to scroll and view, or write in. Being a non-techie, this could be down to other things that I have no idea about! I haven't explored much beyond the basic "apps" though due to time.

I have a HTC desire phone and was able to download the remote app which allows me to control the tv from my phone - this is a great idea as we have to hide the remote from the toddler, but can still change channel without tears and tantrums as the remote stays tucked away. Even better is the fact that if my dear husband is watching the tv with the volume right up downstairs, I can turn it down with my phone from the bed upstairs, and get some peaceful kip - now that is priceless!!

My husband has a Samsung phone and Samsung tablet, and he too can control the tv function from them. It's great that he can film using his phone, then straight away we can watch it on the big screen.

This is just purely an aesthetic thing, but I like that the frame around the screen is slim - the look of the TV with the blu-ray and surround sound look very smart indeed - the only problem we have is trying to find a tv unit that does it all some justice!
