My Panasonic Plasma 42" had developed a fault thus I was supplied with this Sharp model brand new out of the box. If I had bought this as a replacement and paid the sort of money (£1000 plus) I would have been very disappointed; not a happy bunny at all. Some of the differences might be attributable to the LCD versus Plasma debate and I would say, for this size of screen, Plasma wins hands down. Sharp seem to be one of the leaders in LCD technology and having read the reviews for this TV I took the leap and went for it. Rather than pay £2250 for it in a retail shop I went through a number of Internet sites and found it online for £1500. Once out of the box, setting it up is relatively simple although I think that the manual should identify which scart sockets in the separate AV unit are for which source slightly earlier than page 42.
