Great large size full HD tv from Sharp (Sharp LC-46XD1E)

Advantages: great picture both in HD and SD, good amount of ports, great looking tv

Disadvantages: Could do with an extra HDMI socket

We got this tv for a new room we have just done up. We wanted a large tv which played HD in full 1080P and looked good on the wall. We eventually found this Sharp Aquos and loved it. We saw it in a retail shop and the price was £1999.99 which is alot. We were going to buy it anyway but we went home just to check over its spec etc. We then found one of those sites which compares prices and we found one going for £1450 including VAT and postage. At first we were a bit worried about buying things like this online but the site had excellent ratings so we did it. We paid for it and we didn't expect it to arrive for another week or so but 2 days later it was here brand new in its box. We were so surprised about this, and free postage.

But anyway, we took it out of its box and connected all the wires needed. We firstly put it on its stand on a table while we set it up. It found all the channels automatically when we turned it on, then we did the freeview and found all those. Yes it has built in freeview. The menu is nice and easy to use. I must say the remote is a bit old fashioned and does not really look good compared to the tv itself which is glossy black with silver speakers along the bottom. But this is nothing to worry about, if you really want a nice remote buy a universal one.

Now time to connect a dvd player. Connected it to one of the two scart sockets on the back, selected output 2 on the remote and it found it straight away. the only thing is it takes a little while to open up new exits.
We also connected a Wii to the other Scart socket output 1 and this was also found fine.

We then connected out PS3 to try the true high definition of 1080p. We connected this to one of two HDMI ports, then put a blu ray disk in and it started playing. WOW what fantastic quality. So clear, i've never seen such a good quality image on a tv before. I was so pleased as this was the main reason we got a large 1080p tv, for movies and such. And it was excellent. I won't go into all the small detail such as all the ports it has etc as you can find all this in specs, but what i can say is this is a brilliant, perfect quality, good looking tv and i recommend it to anyone and everyone.

We later on got Sky HD, got this installed and i must say, the HD channels look amazing. When you look at it from any angle the show looks brilliant. And that applies to normal channels as well, the viewing angle for this TV is amazing, you can stand nearly to the side of it and see perfectly.

Summary: Great TV, very glad we got it.
