My Panasonic Plasma 42" had developed a fault thus I was supplied with this Sharp model brand new out of the box. If I had bought this as a replacement and paid the sort of money (£1000 plus) I would have been very disappointed; not a happy bunny at all. Some of the differences might be attributable to the LCD versus Plasma debate and I would say, for this size of screen, Plasma wins hands down. This set just didn t have what it takes; colour, definition, contrast whatever it was a long way below par compared to the fantastic Panasonic. OK, my ecperience of this TV was a short one of about 2 weeks while the Panasonic was being repaired but the only good thing I can ...

IF YOU ARE THINKING OF SHARP......THINK AGAIN (224 words)by T.Burley - written on 01/12/08

I have owned a Sharp LC-42SD!E for just under 2 YEARS, costing£899. My first fault was at 13 months when there appeared a green hue around all the subject matters, after phoneing SHARP UK direct and wading through the phone lines i finally spoke to an engineer who informed me it was a software problem and needed to be updated, costing £150, i was livid and after MANY arguements with them finally got them to repair on a goodwill policy. The engineer turned up connected it to his laptop and did a soft repair, also confirming i was exteremly lucky to get a goodwill repair. Within 2 months at startup the tv would start to flicker and would need to be turned off then on again, ...

We got this tv for a new room we have just done up. We wanted a large tv which played HD in full 1080P and looked good on the wall. We eventually found this Sharp Aquos and loved it. We saw it in a retail shop and the price was £1999.99 which is alot. We were going to buy it anyway but we went home just to check over its spec etc. We then found one of those sites which compares prices and we found one going for £1450 including VAT and postage. At first we were a bit worried about buying things like this online but the site had excellent ratings so we did it. We paid for it and we didn t expect it to arrive for another week or so but 2 days later it was here brand new in ...
