Advantages: Immense picture quality, fast response time, loads of connectivity, built in freeview, looks great
Disadvantages: It's a Sony, so expect to pay for the quality you get from them.
As the S-series is one of Sony's latest offerings in their LCD TV range, it incorporates their Bravia technology which combines enhanced picture processing and improved colour filtering, which in turn produces a great viewing experience!
The picture quality is very impressive when using certain inputs, but does show up the poor quality of some signals such as the graphics on Sky Digital can look a bit blocky but DVDs and Games consoles are fantastic!
The sound quality is also top notch, even though I am using the standard built in speakers for now, with the ability to tweak the sound settings, you can achieve faultless sound quality.
From what I know looking at the back of the panel, there is only the 1 HDMI input, perhaps a slight disappointment on that front, but 2 RGB sockets, a PC input, and a component input. It's an S-PVA LCD panel with an amazing 1300:1 contrast, which really shows as the picture really is great, it can also be viewed from a super wide 178° viewing angle. As for the technical side of the sound, it comprises built-in pure digital SRS Trusurround XT sound.
unfortunately, it doesn't have the PiP function which allows you to watch one channel within another, however, it does have freeze pip capability. At the press of a button, it freezes the picture and displays the channel feed in a small window withing that which can be moved around the screen, which is great if you need to freeze the screen to remember a phone number for example.
In conclusion, a very impressive set, by just looking at the picture quality via an HD stream, I could not fault it, and the prices are now dropping so well worth every penny.
Summary: Faultless LCD from Sony
