A great 32" choice (Sony KDL-32V4000)

Disadvantages: Like with all HDTVs, don't expect much from the built in speakers. Invest in a seperate system

I bought the KDL-32V4000 in the December / January sales for only £350, reduced from £500. This is my second LCD and definitely better than the previous.

It looks great. It has a gloss finish to it, including on the stand and is of a nice size in terms of width. Setting it up could not have been any easier. You simply attach the TV to the stand, secure 5 screws and you're done. The built in Freeview is also easy to set up. You just press DTV on the remote and then use the auto scanner to get all the channels.

Sony are known for high quality as this is the same here. I use the TV primarily for Blu Ray and gaming and the picture is very good. It runs games in 720p most of the time with the odd exception where it will change to 1080i. Blu Ray is shown in 1080i and looks excellent. Even running DVDs through the PS3 upscaler looks extremely good on this set.

Most problems with HDTVs are found in SD sources, not HD. Thankfully, freeview and other SD sources look great.

If you're looking for a 32", I highly recommend it, especially if you can still get it for a reasonable price. The picture quality is of a high standard all round. It also has 3 HDMI ports, VGA input and component so you won't have trouble getting your HD equipment hooked up.
