Advantages: Great picture, great sound
Disadvantages: No power off switch
After my old TV blew up, I used my insurance to get myself a replacement. When looking around I thought that the Sony Bravia's stood out from the crowd jot only in there sleek style but also in picture and sound quality. Although my insurance pay-out was only £350, I thought it would be the opportune time to put in a few extra pounds and treat myself to something that I wanted, rather than settle. In the end I paid around £500 for the TV from Comet, but this was a year or so ago.
When setting up the TV everything was pretty simple, it has plenty of HD sockets and also component as well which you don't see very often.
Picture: When switching on the TV I found the picture was perfect. The light sensor works very well as I had my TV placed opposite the window (this was the only free space available at the time!) but there was no glare and I could see the picture perfectly.
Sound: The sound is pretty much perfect. Even when it is to its maximum volume the speakers didn't rattle as you find in some TV's. I do find the highest volume setting to be a little quieter than I would expect for a Sony considering sound is one of their best assets.
I do find that having the user manual stored on the TV is little strange, although it does mean you will never lose it, and it is always to hand! It is pretty straight forward to use and to find the answer you are looking for. The remote is pretty self-explanatory although I don't tend to use it a lot with having Sky+.
My only gripe is that there is no power off switch. You can put the set into standby with the remote or by using the controls on the TV but that's about it. Unless you switch the set off at the mains, it will constantly be in standby mode.
Conclusion: This is by far the best TV I have had, although I have only had four! But it will take a lot for me to be swayed into buying a brand of TV other than Sony in the future.
Summary: This is by far the best TV I have had.
