Advantages: Good picture, looks well sat in the living room

Disadvantages: surround sound - what???

We have been really pleased with our purchase of this TV. We bought this partly because it was HD ready and were wanting to get sky HD to work with it.

From someone who had a HD subscription I can say it works really well with our HD box and the picture is amazing. It was easy to set up in itself but we have it attached to a stand so the TV looks as if it is floating just above the stand and the wires are hidden (looks well).

We set it up with the HD box as soon as we bought it but in recent times and the current economical climate, we reduced our sky package so it does not include the high definition service.

Yes HD is amazing, but in all honesty, the normal picture that this TV provides is pretty amazing too. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080bp which is the purest form of high definition thant a tv can display.

Our lounge is home to a huge bay window which is south facing so we get the sun all day. They do say LCD TV's do not give you the reflection of light that the old TV's did. I cannot vouch for all LCD TV's but this one certaintly lives up to this expectation.

We were also worried by the rumours that an image can 'burn' itself onto the screen if there for a while. In our house we tend to have the discovery channel on all of the time, and up until now there is no evidence of burnt images.

Please ensure that you set the TV up where you hope to keep it - yes it weighs less than the old analogue TVs (about 18KG) but the size of it (H68.6 x W98.7 x D30.3cm - including stand) makes it very difficult to move around when it is out of the box.

The sound is good but we were told that the TV was designed to try and mimic surround sound - which it does not at all, you would have to buy that separately. I find the sound very average.

Howver, overall good purchase for us, good picture, pity about the lie the salesman told us about surround sound - it simply raised our expectations, so we do not now perceive the TV to be as good as we would have done.
