Advantages: good quality from a distance
Disadvantages: needs more HDMI ports
I bought this TV December 2007, and it has been an excellent buy.
The TV itself is HD ready, which means that it only goes up to 1080i. Even though it is not full HD the quality is not bad, the colour ratios are a bit low compared to new TV's, however then again this TV is over two years old now.
At first when I used the TV the colours did not look right but after doing some tweaks with the settings, the TV gives out excellent picture after you have set it up to the right colour, brightness and contrast ratios.
But as the TV has a low ratio it does mean that from close up the TV picture quality does not look as good, so it is only good to watch from a distance.
The TV has great sound output and a two HDMI inputs. Something that it is missing would be an HDMI port on the side of the TV and also it misses the USB input.
The TV comes in a matt black finish and also the Sony stand is the same. The TV itself looks well built however, it would look better in a piano black finish, but as this is a low budget TV the matt black looks good.
One the great things about this Sony TV is that you are able to move the TV around while they are on the stand to get a better viewing angle to where you are seated.
Would I recommend this TV to you, No. Not now as for the same price that I paid for purchasing this TV you can now get a much better spec one for the same size. But if you would have asked me a year back, then I would have said yes, as it is a great budget line 46" TV.
Summary: great tv for the price
