INTRODUCTION

Having recently upgraded our old widescreen television with a nice looking flat screen LCD television, it seemed such a shame to chuck away a perfectly good working television so we replaced the portable in the bedroom for the old widescreen.

I admit the first few weeks of having the 36 inch huge box telly in the bedroom was great, but now I feel that it is a total eye sore and takes up the whole of the dressing tables top, therefore I have now lost a lot of space that I actually needed.

Having finally come to this conclusion me and my husband decided to spend out on a new television as he is currently working nights and I like to watch the telly before nodding off, as the newest television has been so impressive and taking up less space, we decided that the flat screen LCD television was the one to go for.

After spending a week of so researching which one to buy, we have settled for the Sony KDL as this was adequate enough to for fill our needs, as it was only going in the bedroom.

THE SONY KDL 19L4000

The Sony KDL model 10L4000 is a 19inch HD ready television with a built in digital tuner and free view, this is everything I would ever need from a television as I am not really up on technology, but after receiving my new buy I now know it has a lot more to offer.

Picture quality is exceptional as the screen is made up of 1680 x 1050 pixels, I have to say I love the LCD televisions as picture and the colours involved in making up the picture are perfect and everything seems to seem more vivid, for example I watched the football the other night and I could see every little detail right down to the single blades of grass on the pitch.

The television may seem small to others at only 19 inches but for the bedroom this is adequate enough and still give me the much needed space on the dressing table, the dimensions of this are 47.9 centimeters wide, 41.2 cm high and 19.1 cm in diameter making this a perfect size for me.

The insulation for the television was very simple and self explained, but if there are any problems this comes complete with a full instruction manual for you to learn how to install the telly and use its wide selections of features. To be honest I am still trying to work out some of the features but I am sure with the help of the manual I will soon work it out.

As with most LCD's nowadays, this has a very sleek and modern design to it so it fits in perfectly with those who like a minimalistic look around the house. I have to be perfectly honest it does not look as well made as my recent Samsung purchase, but as this was a fraction of price I can't really complain.

I feel that this is let down by the black coloured casing that houses the television as it does look a little bit on the cheap side, so if you are looking at buying this for the style aspect of things you may want to reconsider.

This also features dynamic contrast 200:1, 2x scart sockets which comes in handy f you need to plug sky boxes or DVD players into it and a PC in put which has been very handy as I can now play on the internet while I am in bed, the downside being that I can sit up until all hours of the morning.

This Sony also has a clock, sleep time which is great as it is in the bedroom, digital amplifier with a 10Watt out put, and an automatic standby all of which work well for me when I am nodding off.

The television came complete with instruction manuals, mounting holes and a table top stand, which in my opinion increases the actual span size of the television but it still looks slim and sleek compared to me old wide screen.

You can also purchase a wall mount that is fitted to the wall and the television is fitted on to it, these do not come with the telly so this will be an additional cost but worth every penny if it is something you want to keep everything neat and tidy.

The power consumption is standard at 48 watts while in use or 1 watt when left on standby.

As for the price I purchase this from amazon.co.uk for £226.00 which is a little bit more expensive than some places but the delivery was free and I received it within two days, so I didn't mind paying that little bit more for it.

MY OPINION

Overall I feel that this was great value for money and I am very impressed with the size and how it looks, yes I think this would have been nicer in silver as the black plastic makes it look a little bit cheap but as this now lives in the bedroom I don't mind.

This has taken me a while to master how it works, but I think I am just about self taught without having to rely on the instruction manual every time I wanted to watch a DVD or put the Pc through it.

As far as LCD televisions go I feel that this is a basic run of the mill telly, which has all of the up to date features but it is let down by the screen size and colour, but if you actually want a black small screen then this is the one for you.

Summary: Recommended if you want a smaller upto date television.
