Advantages: Picture quailty, audio quality, the size
Disadvantages: none that I've experienced yet
You might have already read from a couple of my previous reviews that several weeks ago I won about £10,000 worth of Sony electrical equipment and I am still in the process of getting dooyoo to add the products and then getting round to reviewing them so this is taking me a while. Anyway the item I will be reviewing today was probably the highest value thing that I won; a Sony KF 50SX200 Television. Now the blurb stated on the packaging states that it is a Grand Wega model ? slimline widescreen 50? LCD rear projection TV with Digital Constant Image, DRC picture technology and Virtual Dolby Surround Sound. So basically in English it is a very large television with a LOT of functions and a plasma screen! I suppose if you are looking for a new TV then you are going to want to know all the technical functions of this one. I?m still not certain what all of them mean but they are listed in the manual so I?ll just trust what they say. ? Grand Wega - The Ultimate in Slimline, Large Screen, TV Technology ? 127cm (50") 16:9 LCD Widescreen Rear Projection TV ? Anti Reflective Coating ? High Contrast screen ? Auto Noise Reduction ? DRC (Digital Reality Creation) ? DCI (Digital Constant Image) ? Digital Comb Filter ? Multi-Zoom modes ? Auto Wide / Auto 16:9 ? Auto Start Up ? Auto labelling ? Parental Lock ? Auto Standby ? Sleep Timer ? On Screen Display Menu ? 3-way Speaker System ? Nicam digital stereo ? Virtual Dolby Surround So und and BBE ? SmartLink ? 2 Tuners ? Dynamic Picture & Picture ? Dynamic Picture & Text ? Clipboard ? Teletext with 2000 page memory ? Connectors: In/Out: - 3 x Scarts (2 x RGB in, 1 x S-Video in) In: - 1 x front RCA (A/V in) In: - 1 x front S-Video (4pin) Out: - RCA (Audio Out): 1 x Audio (stereo) Out: - Mini Jack: 1 x(3.5mm/Headphone) Mine came with a gla
ss stand though this was separate to the actual television on delivery so I?m guessing that if you were buying it then you would have to purchase that separately. Anyway I?ll think you?ll see what I mean about the technical jargon and unless you?re some kind of expert it is probably completely meaningless. I have found the TV to be extremely impressive personally and I don?t think I can actually fault it! So I?ll tell you what I like best about it. First there?s the speaker system. It?s got surround sound which is good for so many reasons. My old television was fairly ancient and did not have a great sound quality whereas as this is second to none. I suppose the same is true of all surround sound but when you are watching football etc you actually feel like part of the crowd! The picture quality is exceptionally good. When you go to places like Comet and Curry?s I?ve noticed that with some of the larger TV?s the picture becomes distorted because it has been magnified so much but not with this beauty! Picture quality is superb. Lastly I feel I have to comment on the sheer size of the thing. It takes pride of place in our living room now and it is always the thing which people first notice/comment upon when they visit our hou se. Watching films like Lord of the Rings on DVD on this TV makes it all so dramatic. Anyway if you are considering buying a very large new TV then this one comes highly recommended. Obviously I won it so I am unsure of the price but I?m sure if you shop around or scour the Internet you will be able to find the best deal.
