Great for 2 years....then pfffttt! Bought in Tesco for a good price. Worked very well for the length of the guarantee, plus 9 months. Turned on one day (after a little less than 2 years use) and the picture had gone (but the sound remained fine). Luckily, I had bought this from Tesco and I got a partial refund. Checkout the internet- losing the picture is a common fault among smaller Technika TV's. The cost of repair is not economical, it is cheaper to buy a new TV! When I looked at the back of the TV, I noticed that it was made in Slovenia, and, as far as I know, this country has not yet established a name for itself in the manufacture of quality household electrical goods. And after this experience, I don't think that I will be buying any more Technika products. Bottom line: Cheap Works well for a while, but can't last the distance. Buying a new replacement is cheaper than repair.
I purchased this television for my kitchen at Tesco a few months ago. It cost me £129.99 which is great value for money. I think it is an excellent television which is quite good looking and the software is great. It is very easy to use; however, it was a bit of a hassle to set up the built in Freeview. The remote is full of buttons and is quite confusing. But, overall, I was quite satisfied. After about 2 months though, the inferred on the remote and television had broken. I was quite annoyed considering how little I used it and how it was still quite new. I sent it back, and luckily, it came back within a few days and seems to be okay now. The remote is still a bit dodgy and a lot of the time, it doesn't respond to the TV. I end up having to press the buttons really hard just to change the channel. On a brighter note, the graphics are quite good as it is HD. The sound is reasonable but could be better. However, it isn't a major issue. I wouldn't recommend this product due to the inconvenience it caused me, and I wouldn't trust a brand like Technika.
When I wanted a tv for my bedroom a couple of years back me and my Stepfather really locked horns over it! I wanted the biggest tv going and he was set I wasn't getting one bigger than the one in his living room, besides my bedroom back then wasn't that big and he was totally opposed! For Christmas though he got me this Technika tv, mine is the black version and he got it then for £199.99 and sized at 21.6 inches. Mine was on its way out anyway so I had no choice but to act pleased though I was initially upset at the size of it if I'm totally honest lol! However this has turned out to be a simply superb tv for me and my needs. Firstly its appearance. Well it comes in black and white finishes only as far as I am aware of and like I have said mine is the black one and the tv surround and the oval stand it is attached to is shiny and on the middle centre of the set the word Technika is on there in silver capital letters neatly. On the left hand side of the set there is a sticky label on there which peels off with ease though I have left mine on which tells us that it is HD Ready, DB-T, Freeview and that it has a Dvd Video function. So the tv is flatscreen, it is hd ready and has built in freeview so no need for any external boxes with this one meaning its neat and actually having moved recently this is not a big heavy set either and certainly not too wide. It has of course a dvd player to the left hand side of the set which you simply pop a cd or dvd into, though it doesn't appreciate copies or anything and it also has a play back your own media function via USB, HMDI and Scart connections. The only thing majorly missing from this set is a headphone socket sadly and my step dad wouldn't have bought me this if he'd of known that at the time and the guy who sold it to him in Tesco told him it did have one, but again now I live on my own this isn't an issue for me now anyway but it was when I lived in my parents home. You do have basic buttons such as on/off volume and channel control to the top of the set. Little silver buttons, easy to press and great if you can't find the remote. The remote though is black and large and has everything you need it including mute, channel guide and full disc functions including popping your disc automatically out and so on. The functions for altering brightness and the likes is also very simple, thankfully for me and the picture quality is perfect with no pixels on show or anything. I like the fact that this has built in freeview giving me lots of free radio and tv stations and i like the fact I haven't got to have a separate dvd machine for it. All In All: Well I like this tv alot and I haven't had a single issue with it at all really. The picture is good although the sound isn't really loud even when turned up fully though it is good quality and clear enough. It looks nice, is easy to simply dust over though the only negatives for me with this is that not only does it not have a headphone socket it always when playing a dvd sticks a couple of times, nothing major but it does blip, however it doesn't interfere with my viewing really to be fair to it but it is noticeable. In my opinion this is a great bedroom tv and plenty big enough for me and my needs. You can have this free standing like I do or hung on the wall which is something I decided against as my bedroom now is big and the set in comparison is small though I am told that this is simple to hang if I wanted to at any point. You can pick this up for as little as £160.00 now on Amazon or for £140.00 in Tesco stores and to me thats a good buy for a flat screen with freeview and dvd player built in and although I have owned mine a good couple of years now it still looks stylish and not one bit bulky thankfully! Recommended!
I purchased this television recently as it was of a good size for my bedroom wall. Most importantly, the picture quality offered is superb, this is without paying for a HD subscription which I don't believe is at all necessary for casual viewing, and certainly not when excellent picture quality is already provided. The white colour of this television looks stylish when mounted on the wall. The black televisions can sometimes look too obtrusive in a room, but this one blends nicely with the furniture. The installation and settings menus are easy to navigate however the TV guide can be a tad annoying as it will only show you the listings for one channel at a time, this leads me to using the internet to find a program to watch, however this is only a minor issue with the overall quality of the product at a reasonable price. I was that impressed with the television it led me to purchasing another identical one for another room in the house.
