Advantages: Good picture and sound quality

I first noticed this TV when doing the weekly shop in Tesco. I had a look at the features and they were pretty impressive. The TV was 22 inches and included a built in DVD player and a free view box, not bad for the money.

When I got home I did some research yet there were hardly any reviews. The only thing stopping me from buying it straight away was the name, Technika, Tesco's own brand. I finally decided to buy it and one Saturday I went out and got one.

Installation was simple enough but to be honest the instruction manual while it was helpful could have been better. To start off I plugged the power lead in. I then followed the instructions and turned it on. It invited me to select the first time installation option and away it went. It told me to plug in the aerial then it automatically searched for channels. When it showed BBC 1 I was impressed but not amazed. Then I messed around with the picture settings and I finally got an amazing picture with decent contrast and brightness.

The TV has only one HDMI but this is easily resolved by a selector. The Xbox 360 looks really good as well as the free view and the DVD player. The sound quality at first was pretty much standard but yet again you have to tweak with the sound settings to get a decent sound and some deep bass.

Unlike some other LCD TV's the LCD22-208 has an on/off switch as well as standby option on the remote, so you don't have to turn it off at the plug during the night.

Connectivity features are satisfactory but not that impressive having only 1 HDMI and 1 scart, a s-video socket, and a component interface, (not sure what that's used for). Yet unfortunately no headphone socket (I miss that).

Summary: A really good buy - some tweaking of settings and you have a 5* TV
