We bought ourselves this TV last year when the 'View Sonic' we had in the living room was really on its way out (you'd change channels and the screen would just stay black so you'd have to turn it off and on again, plus the screen had an inexplicable dark mark down the middle). I brought this television set in 2010 so i could play xbox on it in my room coming from an old 4:3 box tv. No w the picture quality is fairly good when run through a HDMI cable or COMPONENT cable and having the ability to increase the sharpness , contrast and colors are great features to have and i definitely recommend you set the color setting to full so the images don't look all washed out. As for the built in free-view tv , images sometimes come out looking chunky and not soft at all. Especially when focused on people's faces , the image looks as though it has been water painted on. We bought this particular TV because it is a good enough size to fit into our small living room and was bang on budget at the cheaper end. Its not huge and the spec isn't outstanding but it does the job and TBH the picture quality is not worse in my opinion that some more expensive competitors. It gives a good picture and sound generally - a lot better than expected for the price. Has enough kinds of ins to plug in most peripherals although it may struggle if you have several consols/blu ray etc. as there is not a huge number of sockets. There are a couple of issues. My boyfriend bought me this TV for my bedroom as a surprise Christmas present and wow am I pleased! I had recently moved out of home and still just had an old portable TV in my bedroom (heavy, big and unsightly). This TV makes my whole room look more up to date and slick as it is big enough without being intrusive and it is all black which looks really sleek and classy.
