Advantages: Superb picture, Amazing sound, very smart set

Disadvantages: no dts- big deal, try lifting it up!!!! 75kgs

After a nightmare purchase of a Philips with fuzzy screen edges (and all shop stock was the same!) I was very wary when I returned it and sought a new choice.

I should have remembered that my old 28 inch nicam which was still rock solid after 9 years was also a Toshiba - funny how I did not notice that logo on the bottom.

I was influences by the reports in "Home Cinema" and similar magazines. I suppose they have their uses, but take the reports with a pinch of salt. I remember when I bought a "What Video" star best buy, and the pciture was the pits.

Anyway, the Tosh was two grand, against a Hitachi at £1900 or Sony at £2100+. Philips was abundant in store, but ruled out as their own service personnel admited that 4 had been returned that week.

I would have gone for Sony, but I had to draw the price line somewhere - £2000 is a lot of cash for a box in the corner.

anyway, the choice of Toshiba could not have been better. The picture is superb, the sound fabulous, the features great, and it it a super piece of kit and a smart piece of funiture. I have had it 3 months now, and love it.

The bit about 100 hz etc seems so important when choosing a set, but frankly I cant tell the difference. In any case you have a selector to have it on or off.

The dolby digital 5.1 is something else. wow.
The speakers are small and grey, which is ideal as they dont stand out in the room, but they are powerful. Ignore that bit in the what video and other mags about the centre speaker being small, the sound is fabuloso. Ignore that crap they also write about lack of dts. How many dts dvds have you seen?? Only Galdiator, and it has 5.1 and dts on the disc, i use the 5.1 and sound is super.

Overall, this is a superb television, and takes some beating.
