Advantages: Great picture and easy to use
Disadvantages: It's not in my house
I am writing from my parents this week. I get the great job of looking after their house and dog whilst they sun themselves on a cruise. So being somewhere different I thought I may as well write some reviews about their items that I've been using.
To start I am going to write about their tv in the sitting room. It's a 37" LCD TV. They purchased it just over a year ago in Comet for £699.99.
We originally took mum and dad to Inverness with the intention of buying them a 32" tv for the sitting room as dad was fed up of the bulky CRT 28" tv. My partner James was with us to help mum and dad find the right kind of tv for them instead of the sales people selling something over-priced and entirely different to what they were looking for.
With all the t.v's in the shop we didn't know where to start. James took my dad over to the 32" t.v's where they looked at all the products but none really caught their eye. As we were just walking out of the shop this tv got my dads attention.
It was black in colour with a silver stand. The speaker on the tv is at the bottom of the t.v instead of at the sides. Under the speaker there is the red light to show the t.v is on standby which turns green when the t.v is switched on. The other nice thing about this t.v is the black plastic of the tv which is the surround of the t.v wasn't too thick which gave the impression that the screen is a lot bigger than it actually is.
The t.v has built in freeview so no more need for the freeview box that sits gathering dust under the t.v. We switched on the t.v and it had excellent picture quality. The other great thing about the t.v was it slightly swivels round on the stand which is great for mum and dads sitting room. It helps also if the sun is reflecting on it in the summer and it only need to be moved slightly to stop the reflections.
We bought the t.v for £699.99 and got an offer on a glass and chrome stand for £79.99 which had £50 taken off the retail price. Once home and setup in the sitting room it looked great. It only took about 10 minutes to setup and get all the freeview channels tuned in.
The remote control for the t.v is also nice looking. It is silver and black which is long and thin. It requires 2x AAA batteries which are included. So far the batteries are still ok and have never been replaced.
It's quite easy to get to grips with the t.v. It has all the usual buttons and the guide button for the tv channel listings. It comes up in a blue screen with a jade green background, all writing is in white. To flick through channels is easy whilst in the guide. You use the up or down buttons and the press the ok button to view the channel and the guide will automatically close.
The tv has always worked perfectly with no problems at all and even now the picture quality is just as good as the day it was first setup. Toshiba products are well known for their excellent products and this one doesn't let them down at all. Well worth the money.

Overall this is a fantastic tv from a great manufaturer. It has done mum and dad well and looks great in their house. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a tv. It's a perfect size and i'm glad they chose a 37" instead of a 32".
Summary: Love it - mum and dad purchased a great t.v
