Advantages: Full HD, Good Contrast Ratio, Reasonable Price

Disadvantages: Confusing set up and customising options

I shopped around a lot before choosing this TV as I wanted one that would do everything I needed and at a reasonable price. I finally purchased it from Amazon as this was where it was available for the best price (and Amazon's free delivery) when I bought it.

I found quite a lot of confusion between the 37XV503 and the 37XV505 models when I was choosing a TV - the only difference I can establish is that the 503 has a black surround while the 505 is silver though there may be more to it than this. Also the contrast ratio seemed to cary depending on which web site I looked at - I finally discovered that there are 3 different screen sizes of this TV and each has a different contrast ration. However I chose this one as it had many of the features I was looking for such as Full HD (1920x1080p), 3 HDMI connections and a good contrast ratio (18,000:1) as well as many other features that made it attractive to me: Game mode, Luma Lens Light Sensor,Active Vision LCD Picture Processing and Regza Link.

So far I have been very pleased with this TV and have very few complaints. The signal on the built in freeview box seemed a bit iffy at first and didn't seem to have the same picture quality as our separate box had but this soon settled down and we now have a good picture even when the signal strength is poor. The picture quality when using a HD device (PS3 in our case) is excellent with bright, clear colours. The TV itself looks good and of course comes with remote control. This TV would be great for technology freaks as there are so many different settings that can customised with regard to the picture, sound, colour, etc. This however proved a bit confusing for me and I'm still not sure I got the TV set up quite how I would like. A couple of minor complaints I would mention are that one of the big selling points of this TV is that it has an on/off switch so that the environmentally friendly buyer doesn't have to leave it on stand by. I have not yet found this mysterious on/off switch and according to the diagram in the instruction book it is on the back of the TV. Not very handy when ours is positioned in the corner between the stereo cabinet and the window so mine lives on standby when not in use. Also I have noticed some occasionally dimming of the screen although I have yet to determine whether this is the TV or the signal/device that is being used at the time.

All in all, a great TV considering the screen size and price. A good bargain and in my opinion, well worth the money.

Summary: I'm really pleased i bought this TV!
