One day while I was sitting at work, I got a message from my fiancé; she was asking me what I thought about getting a new LCD high definition TV. I said that it sounds like a good plan, and that it would be added to the list of many things that we are saving for. The next message I got back from her was; good because there is one sitting in our living room now. With this message I was both shocked and very excited and I couldn't wait until I got home to look at our new shiny HD TV.

When I got home there stood in front of me was the Wharfedale 32 inch HD ready LCD television. I looked at the box with excitement, and I was not disappointed once the box was opened. Amidst all the packaging and protective foam there was hidden a shiny black monstrosity of a television, the remote and of course some random leaflets and instruction manuals... of course which I did not pay attention to being a man and all.
Once the separate stand, which we purchased in a package deal with the television was erected, and sitting stable, we unwrapped the television to find a stunningly beautiful, smooth, shiny black surfaced television. It stands 54cm tall and 79.6cm wide and has a depth of 10cm, which I think is rather thin for a television, as my last one was a huge monster which was as nearly as deep as it was tall. The hardest part of installation was attaching the base stand to the television and even this was not that difficult, but was just a little fiddly. With the base stand attached to the television it increased the depth to 23cm, but then this stand is needed to support the weight of the television. Surprisingly it wasn't that heavy (15kg including base stand) and only took one person to lift it onto the glass stand. This model can also be wall mounted, but we didn't really see the point in this and also I personally think that wall mounted televisions are a bit strange looking.

When everything was connected into the television such as my Xbox 360 and DVD player we turned on the TV, we where met with a simple start up menu, which we just selected search for channels from and the TV went about its business scanning for all terrestrial and also free view channels that are available. Once this had complete we where met with the channels that the TV had found. We quickly flicked through the channels instantly noticing a difference between this TV and our old one. The picture was better and the sound was better, even though it was still terrestrial TV. We then tested both the Xbox on high definition mode, which I can say is mind blowing, and the DVD player as well.
The remote that came with the TV is also filled with gadgets, it is a standard remote, which is very well laid out, with all the teletext buttons arranged at the top of the remote and a central circle button with a ring of buttons around it for navigating the various menus, and then the number buttons at the bottom. When I spoke about gadgets what I meant was at the top of the controller beside where the normal part is for sending the signal to the TV (the IR LED) there is another LED this time it is a white light LED which gives out a bright white light when a button on top right of the remote is pressed. This is very handy, as how many times have you been sitting watching a film in the dark, eating crisps or popcorn and you drop one, and then you have to get up and turn on the light and search about to find it. Well that is what I had to do before I had this remote, all I have to now is lift the remote and shine the light and have a quick look around. I found this aspect of the remote kind of strange but also very convenient.

The picture of the screen is of very good quality, it boasts a good colour range and very crisp definition in the picture. It has a viewing angle of 179 degrees all around the television, meaning that no matter what angel you look at the television from you are able to see the picture, with some cheaper TV's they have a much less viewing angles and that means that beyond this angle the picture becomes greyish and not very easy to view it, but with this television this is not the case. The sound on this TV is also of very high quality, it has been tested by many times by playing DVDs both film and music, and a wide range of games ranging from huge battlefields with lots of explosions to more calmer adventure games and also a range of CDs have been played on it with perfect sound quality and very crisp notes in every case.
So to summarise I think that this TV is fantastic, it boasts a good sturdy and stunning design. It has superb picture and sound quality, and it comes at a good price also. I would recommend this TV to anyone, as it is a perfect balance between cost and quality.
