Vango are one of the market leaders in tents and cover the range from almost budget to extreme adventures. The Omega is a mid range model and fits the weekend car camper perfectly.
The 350 is Vango's way of showwing how many people can fit, the 3 for 3 man, the 50 for comfortable size rather than snug. I've never used this tent for 3 but for 2 it can easily accomodate a double air bed and bags of clothing in the bedroom tent. Plenty of pockets for storing small items in the bedroom tent also helps.
The porch area is almost the same floor space as the bedroom tent. Plenty of room for storing equipment, food and drink. The tunnel shape also makes it tall enough for even the biggest of campers to sit upright down the centre of tent. If the weather turns there enough space for cooking and moving around within the tent so you wont feel claustrophobic.
Pitching requires some extra effort compared to a dome tent. Being a large tunnel a helping hand when pitching definitely helps. A few peg adjustments will get the tent nice and stable. The waterproof rating of 5000 is more than enough for this tent. Due to its size and shape it probably wouldn't stand up to severe winds but its never failed me. The alloy poles are less likely to break and lighter than Vango's cheaper fibre'd poles.
At 5kg its light for the amount of tent you get and if you were taking it as a 3 it won't be too heavy if you need to walk any distance.
For around £150 this tent could last you a long time and not feel the need to look for a replacement.
Whenever the subject of tents have been talked about, the past version of myself would feel a slight hatred towards this camping equipment, as I used to be stuck with the oh, so dreadful job of putting it together and setting it up, a job which I never succeeded at and hated trying to accomplish! So, when a friend of mine told me about the Vango Omega tent, saying that it was very easy to set it up, I honestly didn`t believe him, thinking to myself that probably all tents are a product of the devil... Well, I was wrong, and thankfully, I`m now the owner of a tent that takes me under 5 minutes to assemble and get working!
I went online and purchased this tent at amazon for 120.00, and the high cost reveals that this is a product of great quality. Me and two of my friends ( the tent has room for three grown men ) have used this tent for several various occasions, both in warm and very cold weather. I can happily report that this Vango Omega Tent does a magnificent job in keeping out wind, as the fabric is very solid and of good quality, not once letting wind get inside of it, always keeping the temperature inside of the tent very comfortable, also during very warm weather conditions during summer. However, what I was most interested in, was wether the tent would be able to remain dry during heavy fall of water, as a light drizzle of rain is something than any tent should manage, me more interested in a tent that keeps dry during the worst of rain storms... My experience with the tent is that it does a very solid job of not letting rain fall onto your head and body when inside of it, it shuts out water even when the rain is heavy and consistant, and not once have I experienced it to leak! It`s the case for some tents that they leak from the sides of the floor in the tent, and I wanted to see if this tent managed to keep water away from the edges and corners of the tent as well, and I found that it does, when extremely heavy rain, let some ammount of water in, but this is really not much to mention, as the level of water in the corners is very little and can easily be avoided by moving just centimeters into the core of the tent... So in terms of quality, I`m very pleased with this tent from Vango Omega, as it`s very easy to set up, warm and dry to spend time in and has a nice, neutral design, the color scheme of it light forest green, with a sharp orange inside. This is a great tent for both hobby camping and hiking trips, recommended!
When you go camping it is always good to make sure that you go in something suitable enough to make sure your overnight stay is decent. On the market today you will find more and more tents which are cheap but of a very poor quality. I have stayed in ones which just feel like they have no support in them at all. This one was quite pricey so I expected this one to be of a good enough quality whilst camping.
The price I paid for this tend was £115 and considering it is pretty spacious and could fit around 3 people in with space I think it was a good buy. I have already used this 8times so the more you use it the better it becomes as you are getting your use out of it. I would rather spend £100+ on a good tent than £40 on a tent which is of a very poor quality.
Description and Quality
When looking at the tent from the outside you can see that it looks very impressive and spacious. The material on the tent is also pretty impressive and you can tel that this is not a cheap item. When you go inside if your in with another 2 people you will find that you will have more than enough space to move around. My opinion is you could fit 4 and 5 in if you don't mind being cramped. The tent is very secure during the wind which was something I was very pleased with. When you pay that price that is something you expect.
Overall when looking at this tent it is a very good quality tent which if purchased people would be very happy with. The tent is one which does everything you need and is very stable when you are inside. If anyone is considering a tent then I would recommend anyone to try this one.
I had not been camping for over twenty years, but as I wanted to take my dogs with me on holiday I decided to go back to camping. The last time I put up a tent it seemed to take hours and involved tentpoles of all shapes and sizes, this part of 'living under canvas' I was not looking forward to. With the Vango Omega tent I need have no such worries, it is so easy to erect that a child could do it and took about fifteen minutes from start to finish. the size was perfect giving plenty of room for myself and three dogs, although I am not to sure it would hold three adults with any comfort. having a seperate compartment was useful as I could ensure that wet clothes and wet dogs were kept well away from bedding and dry clothes. The cost of the Vango was quite small considering the quality, but I consider it money well spent and have now used it four times, the dogs of course adour it.
