Dell S2409W ... purchased this monitor primarily for use as a second display for my MacBook, from what I could gather at the time it was essentially a "budget" monitor from Dell, lacking some of the features found in it s higher end counterparts (such as USB Hub, Built-in Speakers). Although don t let this put you off, when you consider that it is (at time of purchase) hundreds of £ s cheaper than these higher end models. When I opened up the box my first impressions were that this thing was huge, I hadn t quite realised how big a 24-inch monitor would be up close, so it took a bit of re-shuffling of my desk to get it to fit. Samsung Syncmaster 2433BW ... ll get straight to the point, this monitor is gorgeous to look at. A gloss black finish with some gentle sweeping curves. Unfortunately setting it up isn t as easy as it is on the eye. Attaching the base to the screen is a real pain and is well documented on the internet. Luckily I knew what I was in for because I read up about it before purchasing. Basically you have to fit a bulbous piece of plastic into a socket. It s a very tight fit and near impossible without using vasaline, which is what I did but still had to use all my body weight. Once it s done it s done and you won t have to do it again. HP W2448hc ... have owned this monitor for around 6 months now and have found it to be superb. It s built to a high standard and has a nice glossy black finish with a very good adjustable stand. The stand is dampened so it s very smooth and easy to adjust to any position you could want and it ll stay in any position on it s own. You can lift and tilt or rotate the screen 90 degrees (which can be a bit fiddly because of the physical size of the screen) if windows is set up to rotate it will rotate the screen to a portrait image automatically. Connections wise there are plenty to choose from with HDMI, DVI and VGA. With a native resolution of 1920x1200@60hz DVDs and games look great (...
