Advantages: Light, easy install, good picture

Disadvantages: Its not the widescreen version

The Acer AL1916 series come in both black and silver (mine is silver), its a 19 inch flatscreen (TFT) monitor and it is very light and durable. It is very easy to install with standard vga socket and even easier to set up as it has a great button marked AUTO which does pretty much everything for you. This has 4 settings which are Auto (does everything), Text, Standard,Graphics & Movie. I haven't tried the other settings so I can't say much about them.

If you do fancy having a fiddle with your screen settings manually its also got a nice clearly marked MENU button which allows you to change Contrast, Brightness, Focus, Clock (refresh rate I assume), Horizontal & Vertical Postioning, Colour Palette settings (Warm, Cool or User), Language settings (it has 8 different languages it can display), On Screen Display settings, Auto Config (in case you can't see the AUTO button), Info (shows screen resolution, refresh rate & type of input), Reset & Exit.

The menu controls can take a little bit of figuring out if your one of those people who insists on not reading their manual but its a fairly simple process of elimination. The monitor has a flat base that it can be stood on or it can also be mounted to a wall, if you stand it on its base be aware the slightest knock will wobble the monitor so make sure it is place on something sturdy.

The monitor is bright and has good colour reproduction (it may seem overly bright if not viewed from eye level) but it is good for playing games or watching dvd movies through your pc. I highly recommend it and its successors. There is also a 1916W which is the widescreen version of this monitor which is even better than this one.
