Advantages: Looks, price, decent spec

Disadvantages: Quality of buttons, no digital connection

I chose this monitor last year when I was trying to put a new computer together on a fairly tight budget. It was on for under £100 at the time and seemed to have much better spec compared to others in the same price range.

Good Points:

It looks attractive. The front of the screen is finished in the polished black effect often seen on more expensive monitors from Samsung etc. The only disadvantage here is that it is easy to get finger marks all over the frame if you're not careful. The base is finished in matt silver plastic, and in my opinion looks better than the circular base many monitor seem to have.

The picture itself is of a very good quality for the price, the dynamic contrast ratio of 2000:1 is the best I've seen on a 19" screen, and the sharpness/contrast of the picture is noticeably better than a 19" Samsung we also own. The screen is also tilt adjustable, useful if you have a lower desk surface, another feature the Samsung lacks.

The monitor is more than adequate for most everyday uses, I regularly use it for movies and gaming and have no issues with the picture quality or response time (5ms appears to be around standard at the moment).

As with most other monitors, installation is fairly simple, just a case of attaching the stand, and then simply plug and play straight out of the box.

Problems:

Overall, the only issue I have with the screen is the quality of the buttons used to adjust the settings and turn it on/off. Not soft to touch, and sometimes it takes more than one attempt to press them, though they seem durable enough.

The only other disadvantage I can think of is the lack of a digital connection, but there is a version which offers this, although in my opinion there is little difference to be noticed in picture quality under general use between analogue and digital.

Overall, this was definately the best monitor all-round monitor in my price range, and would be highly recommended if it can be found for the right price. There are also 20" and 22" versions of the same screen available.

Summary: One of the best value 19" monitors around in its price range
