Ok, right, here goes, I am ready. That was just me building myself up to review something more technical then make up, food or alcohol. Let me assure you this review will be all opinion and no techie stuff, I hope that goes down ok.
I recently splashed out on a new monitor for my PC and having had a few cheap ones over the last few years and everyone else's being bigger than mine I decided to go for the Acer P243Wd, not because the guy in the shop said it had the highest of high definition picture and the smoothest of smooth video playback and the best of the best of everything but because I loved the look of it and it was huge and like most girls I really do think that size matters.
So I paid my £159.99 and the nice chap carried the box out to my car and off I went home to set it up. So I got home and remembered that the guy had said it would be simple to install, just unplug my old one and plug in this one and Windows would do the rest, he was right, very simple indeed.
Sitting on my desk the glossy piano black monitor looks lovely and instantly on turning it on I could see the benefit of this monitor over my last, the colours were more vibrant and the clarity of even the simplest of fonts was superb compared to my old monitor.
This monitor is capable of connection through HDMI but sadly the PC I am using at the moment doesn't allow for this so I will have to wait till I can afford a new PC to get the benefit of this but never the less the picture quality is excellent and I have watched movies on it already an it is every bit as good as watching on my TV except smaller of course.
If like me you love to have more than one internet page open at a time then you can easily have two pages open and viewable at once with the size of this 24 inch beauty, so whilst I am writing a review I can still be chatting on MSN or doing something else too.
The long and the short of it is I found this monitor to be inexpensive, good looking and excellent quality and I would be very quick to recommend it to others.
If you're looking to upgrade your monitor to something with better image quality and smooth picture motion, this is the right monitor for you. The monitor is 24 inches in size which will enable you to fit more information on your screen at one time. In simpler terms, you can have many windows open at once in full view without minimising and switching between them. The screen size will benefit you when playing games and watching movies in HD or in Bluray.
After opening the box in high anticipation I located all the essential accessories to get me including the cables and instruction manual. The instructions were very easy to read and follow and explained everything in great detail. You get a cdrom to help you with the installation if required.
It looks excellent and very modern. It is a nice black glossy screen which looks very attractive when sitting in my room. The buttons are easy to access and layed out very well. Onscreen menus are simple to use and understand when configuring the device.
Powering on for first use:
Once I powered on the monitor and connected it to the VGA connection in my pc, I was ready to rock and roll and the monitor configured the picture automatically so no action was required. It was as simple as that, I was instantly enjoying my games and movies in the highest definition possible. The connections it supports are: VGA, Analogue, HDMI and DVI. The colours are extremely vibrant and the smooth flowing motion of movies is excellent. I will never go back to my old monitor. It's great for work also, documents look crystal clear and the fonts are very sharp and easy to read. You can fit 2 pages very easily onto one screen.
Overall from my experience, Acer has always had the best picture quality and vibrant colours when it comes to monitors. They have never failed on me and are quality for a great price. I suggest giving this product a try you will not regret it.
If you are in the realsm of looking to buy a new computer monitor then look no further than Acer's range of beautiful TFT Displays.
This is Acers 24 inch widescreen high definition multi media / gaming screen.
When this screen was delivered the box it came in was huge.
Upon opening the box there were the power leads at the top with manual and installation software (if required).
Under the polystyrene tray the screen was pacakged very well and the screen had additional layers of protection on it.
Once you get the screen out of the box, (which may require 2 people) you are left looking at a glossy black screen and a satin silver stand.
All of the buttons are on the bottom of the left side of the screen and are easy to get to and press.
Once connected to your computer by one of the following connections - VGA, ANALOGUE, HDMI, or DVI the screen automatically sets itself up. Great stuff.
The on button lights up with quite a bright blue colour, which is nice. The screen also has pre set brightness levels for : Films, Word documents etc, Gaming and reading. So the brightness can be easily adjusted without having to go into the options and settings.
So onto some more technical goodies this screen has -
The acer screen is very thin for a 24" monitor being only 5cm or so from front to back.
You can sue high definition due to the HDMI port on the back.
Its a 24" monitor so you can view more on one page, or view 2 pages easily in word etc.
Acers crystalbrite technology provides bright and vibrant images, as well as great contrast 3000:1. Also the screen has a response time of 2ms which is also great for gaming.
I have watched king kong on dvd through my pc on this screen and the images have been sharp, crisp and the detail has been bang on! Also blacks were represented extremely well.
Using word documents, or even computer programs look great on the screen too, no problems what so ever.
So if your looking for a big monitor that can withstand high quality images and live upto high speed gaming this screen really could be what your looking for. I have had no problems with the screen and has easily lived up to its name and the quality i would expect from Acer.
Top screen providing a great viewing pleasure.
