I had been looking for an external monitor after my old dell one decided to stop working. I like to use more than one monitor at a time (dual screens) in order to perform more than one task at a time. When you have the setup of a dual screen monitor it seems a wonder why you would not have had this setup before. It allows you to multi task and run different applications at the same time on different screens .For example you could be sending an email whilst also watching a youtube video without having to alternate between different tabs. Also things like cutting and pasting from one document to another becomes a lot easier when working with programs like Microsoft Word and Excel.
The monitor itself
After searching around on the internet for a replacement monitor, I found this Acer one on Play.com for £69.99 which for an 18.5 inch LCD LED monitor is a bargain price. The current retail price seems to be close to or around the £90 mark which is quite a bit higher. This seemed like an ideal match at the time and I decided to purchase this one.
Installation was simple just plug and play with the VGA cable provided. The screen is a glossy black colour and is both sleek and stylish. The power button is on the bottom right of the screen just underneath and slots in quite nicely .It comes in widescreen format and comes with a resolution of 1,366 x 768pixels and support for over 16 million bright and lifelike colours. The screen is very thin and does not take up that much space. It also features Full HD resolution and an extremely high contrast ratio. Another fact is that the S Series of Acer monitors also use mercury-free materials and white LED technology which allows for 68% lower power consumption. This means it is better for the environment and is able to use both energy-saving and earth-caring technologies.
This is a sleek and stylish monitor which came at a good price. It has sharp contrast and colours and also features a slim yet spacious display and design. I would be less reluctant to buy at the higher price but would still recommend this monitor as both a standalone for a desktop pc or for use as a dual/external monitor. I would overall give this monitor 5 out of 5 especially at the price I paid for it.
