Acer V223HQ:
... recommend this screen for those looking for some extra real-estate on their desktop, or looking to watch full HD movies in comfort. The only downside for me is that the display only accepts analogue signals via a VGA cable, so no HDMI, DVI or component inputs here. If you are looking for a good TFT screen and waiting for the prices to drop - take a look again. Acer have a great monitor here for the average user.... Acer AL1916WAs ... bought an Acer PC a while back, but still had a huge CRT monitor which was just eating power and taking up loads of space. I saw the model down from this in Argos, but after some hunting around, found this model on Amazon for the same price. Delivery time was great (before the estimated date), setup was easy enough (just plug and play, probably because I have an Acer PC), although I get the feeling I might need to tweak the settings a bit to get the most out of it. The various settings (movie, games, standard etc) are easy enough to switch between ,and there s an auto detect function that selects the most appropriate setting (although that can be a bit off). Acer AL1916ws ... is a very competent monitor with only a minor drawback. On the up side, it is suprisingly large for a 19 inch monitor because of its widescreen aspect. this makes it perfect for watching DVDs and streaming video (such as iPlayer from the BBC). the refresh rate is fast (8ms) which means it can cope with most newer games, although diehard gamers will probably want something higher spec. the max resolution is 1440 x 900 (i.e. WXGA) which is extremely generous for the price! the monitor comes with a simple (and pleasingly compact) desktop stand, although the back of the screen has connections to enable wall mounting (providing you buy a compatible kit). the scree... Acer AL1914ms ... I am staring at one as I write this review, I have owned this monitor for over 4 years now and I can happily say that I have no dead pixels and never had a single issue with the monitor. Although it is now beginning to look a little dated, I think the round corners of the 1914 look good in most environments. It sits on an oval footplate which means it can be used easily where deskspace is at a premium. The On screen menu is easy to use and intuitive allowing you to customise COntrast, Brightness, Clock Speed, Focus, Language, Position, OSD position and a nice touch is that it offers 2 preset "hues" either a cool blue look or a warm yellow.
