I got this monitor for my computer 3 years ago when I started university and it has not let me down. 24 inch is a perfect size, great for gaming, browsing and even word documents etc, with a lovely widescreen allowing you to have 2 documents up side by side with ease.
It is apparently low in power consumption, which I can assume is true as it turns itself off within a few seconds if the computer is off or if there is nothing inputting to it.
Overall it is really light weight, and the base can quite easily slide off so that you can attach it to the wall, or in my case a desk mount so I can push it to the side easily when I'm not using it which gives me more desk space.
The border is glossy which although looks really nice, does need to be dusted quite often. The border being slim (about half an inch either side) makes the screen look bigger, along with saving space on your desk.
I was previously using 17" screen which was fine for basic browsing and email usage. Though as i do a lot of word processing it became frustrating trying to compare or edit two documents at the same time. The work i used to do required me to look at one document while referring to another on a smaller screen it means you need to keep minimising and maximising between the two which becomes annoying as you lose where on the document where you looking. This monitor would be a great solution to this and i can now have both at open at the same time.
The look of the monitor is appealing as i noticed on many LCD screen. The sides of many are quite big between the edge of the screen and the edge of the monitor where as this is around an inch. It has a glossy finish to it so is a bit of a dust magnet.
The inputs are VGA, DVI and HDMI and i have used all without any difference in quality although some people would argue but you wont notice on this size of a screen. For those interested VGA is basically analogue which is standard on older pc's with newer ones having a digital connection. The digital are DVI and HDMI the only difference is HDMI which allows you to use sound although this monitor has no speakers. It does have an audio jack if you want to connect speakers or headphones by passing though the sound from HDMI.
The picture quality is amazing at this price point with various picture settings like dynamic and movie. I currently have it set at movie as it has a darker look so is not so washed out. The only bad point is the contrast ratio which is 1000:1 this means compared to another monitor with the ratio of 10000:1, blacks wont be as black more of a very dark gray. Although you only notice this if you go looking for it like me as i read into all this contrast ratio and 1080p differences on the internet.
I got this monitor for a christmas present last year. I was absolutely astonished by the quality of the monitor. The price for starters, is amazingly cheap. I brought mine about 6 months ago for aroun £180. I dear say you can probably get it cheaper now.
This minitor offers a huge screen of 24" and a massive resolution of 1920x1080. This means you have an incredable amount of room to view different applications side-by-side. This works hand in hand with Windows 7 feature to snap windows.
This monitor offers Full HD quality from an HDMI port. My Xbox 360 run perfectly though this monitor and it can been seen easily from the other side of my bedroom. The colours a vibrant and clear, the monitor does a terriffc job at keep up with fast pase action. This is because of the high contrast ratio this monitor contains.
This monitor can actually display 2010p BluRay HD quality videos through VGA. For people who are not sure what that mean, I can tell you now, its impressive.
One thing I would be cautious about, it ships with an European plug. I was not aware of this and I live in the UK. You Cannot use a shaver converter. This is the mistake I made and the power supply stopped working on me!
Lucky my friend had a spare one, otherwise I would have to purchase another one.
This is a great monitor for an ever greater price!
I originally bought this for gaming on my ps3 as it is full HD and the contrast ratio is very high for the price you are paying.
Buying a TV of this specification would have set me back £100 more than the £145 i paid for this of www.oyyy.co.uk.
It has the following inputs, VGA/D-SUB, HDMI, DVI
Having HDMI is what makes this product awsome, it means you can connect nearly all the new tech to it such as a SkyHd box, PS3, new Apple mini's or even your new video camera.
It is very easy to use just a simple plug in and play.
Again I must mention the quality is very good. I use it with my pc now and watching Hidef content Is mind-blowing. I was most impressed watching HD youtube on this monitor.
THIS PRODUCT COMES WITH 3 YEAR WARRANTY AS STANDARD.
I have bought BenQ products in the past and they all have this standard warranty of 3 years. About 2 years after buying a BenQ projector i needed to get it repaired as it had dropped and the internal circuits were damaged. There customer service was VERY helpful and it was a collect on site, So all in all they repaired my projector at no cost!
It is greatly reassuring to know that i will be safe if this monitor ever goes wrong.
This is the best fullHD solution you are going to get at 24" under £200
Highly recommend this product.
Very, very good product, which has probably the best ratio of bang per buck. 24" screen, 16:9, and DVI/HDMI inputs for that price is almost like a gift ) Specialists working with graphics may find colors a bit unmatched and requiring a bit of tweaking, but for normal user it would be perfectly fine.
Notable disadvantage is that HDMI/DVI cables are NOT included in package, but you'll definitely need on of them for getting most of this monitor.
Also dont forget to adjust brighness and contrast levels - i've found that it is capable to be VERY bright, and it's not too good for your eyes.
In overall, i'll give this monitor 5 stars in overall, as it's almost perfect home wide monitor, ideal for video/gaming. Installation gets 3 stars, for absence of necessary cables. Anyway, the price that i paid for the product makes this irrelevant.
If you value your money - this monitor would be good choice.
