EIZO has succeeded in decreasing the width of the side bezels to only 6.9 mm - about half the size of other 19" SlimEdge monitors. This slim design saves space on the desktop, and works especially well in multi-monitor setups, letting the monitors fit closely together. The S1961 Series comes with a stand that has a height adjustment range of 100 mm, as well as tilt and swivel angles of 30° and 70° for optimum positioning. The screen pivots 90° into portrait orientation for viewing text documents or web pages. The power supply unit is in the panel rather than the stand, so you can detach the stand and mount the monitor on an arm or wall in accordance with VESA standards. BrightRegulator function keeps the monitor at the ideal brightness level under all lighting conditions. A sensor on the front bezel measures the ambient light and signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. In addition to providing greater clarity, this also saves energy by dimming the screen when room brightness levels are low. If you prefer a constant brightness level regardless of ambient lighting, you can easily disable the BrightRegulator. At startup or upon wakeup, an EIZO-patented drift correction function quickly stabilizes the brightness level. In addition, a sensor measures the backlight brightness and compensates for brightness fluctuations caused by the ambient temperature and the passage of time. An outstanding contrast performance makes images on dark backgrounds appear more vivid and ensures that colors retain their richness even in brightly lit rooms. DVI-D and D-Sub mini 15-pin input terminals allow the monitors to accept both digital and analog inputs. If both types are connected, you can switch between them via a front panel button. You can select three Fine Contrast modes for optimum viewing with various applications. The Text mode is for viewing documents, the sRGB mode is for web browsing and the Custom mode is for setting your own viewing preferences. Two functions ensure stable brightness, which is necessary for the proper display of color. The first is drift-correction circuit that quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or coming out of power-saving mode. The second is an ambient brightness sensor that detects changes in the ambient brightness and signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly so it is never too dark or too bright. The product name, serial number, and total usage time can all be confirmed in the on-screen display menu. Panel can be removed from its stand and can be mounted on VESA-compliant arms or stands.
